The Escape

((I'm bored. Boredom kills brain cells, so I hope this story isn't too crappy.))

The putrid smell of death hung heavily in the darkness and though there were cries of anguish and screams, the only sound she could hear was the beating of her heart against her chest. The cold, damp stones that lined the hallway scraped slightly against the skin of her palms as she traveresed through the labrynth. Slowly, she glided along the shadows as if becoming one with them to keep her sadistic captors from finding her.

The sound of feet hitting concrete froze her where she stood and then she breathed an inaudible sigh of relief when the guard hadn't noticed her. Again, she began to walk toward the exit; ignoring how much pain her body was in or how much she had suffered in the years she was forced to remain there. 'Please let me escape this time, please don't let them find me,' she silently prayed as she walked closer to the door. She turned and gave another last glance to make sure she wasn't being followed or watched before taking the panel off the door's controls. A few minutes later and the computerized door slid open, only to reveal several guards on the other side of it.

"Shit," she cursed as she took the small control panel she had taken off and forced it into one guard's neck. The dull edges pierced the skin from the force and she watched as he slid lifelessly to the ground. Quickly, she took his gun and shot his partner in the head with it; leaving one to run like a coward toward the compound's alarm system.

Soon, the entire compound was lit up with red lights and all that was heard was the blaring of the alarms. Still, she kept to the shadows and killing anyone that got in her way. 'This is too easy.....they are testing me,' she thought as she became more cautious of her surroundings.

Fists gripped tightly to a dark leather chair which sat at the head of a very long corporate table. Dark eyes scanned each and every one of the occupants that sat in the other chairs surrounding it. He had heard each and every argument that preceded out of most of their mouths and wished like hell they'd all just shut up. Finally, the long, white haired male had had enough of the constant rambling and stood to his feet right when the alarms began to blare loudly.

"What now?!?" he bellowed as one man stood up with anger lining his own unnaturally colored eyes.

"You said it was safe, Seerath! We warned you of keeping her here," the man growled.

"Shut up Gawath!" Seerath sneered as he brushed his white hair from his face. The computerized door to the room slid open, revealing a guard which had been wounded.

"Sir....it's Leviathan...she's escaping," he muttered before falling to the ground. The last breath he took gurgled from the blood that had rose inside his throat.

"What are you going to do know Seerath.....we can't let the Leviathan escape. It could be the death of us all you incompetant fool!" a woman spoke this time. Seerath calmly turned around with an eerie smirk across his face.

"Cyrena, Gawath, D' Aira, Okemos, and Toshiro....this meeting is adjourned. I suggest you all leave quietly before I decide to end your pathetic existences....now go!" Seerath growled. Each of the members glanced at one another and without so much as a goodbye, they all vanished as if they had never been there. Seerath's evil smirk became somewhat of a grin as he turned toward the door. "Now for Selysia," he muttered as he walked out of the room.

.................................................. .................................................. ..

The door to freedom was less than a hundred yards away and she fought as hard as she could to obtain her goal. Her confidence began to grow even more with each fallen guard, but her senses still kept her alert on anything that moved. Then she felt that feeling......the dreaded feeling that he was coming. Her confidence quickly turned to panic as she continued to fight and push her way through the guards just to reach the door.

"Selysia.......why are you in such a hurry child....have you somewhere to go?" His voice echoed through the halls, but he was no where to be seen.

"Go to hell Seerath," the girl cried out as she tripped on one of the bodies and fell to the ground. She determindedly clawed her way to the door until she reached the panel and before anyone could stop her, it slid open. Seerath darted from the shadows, but Selysia was already on the other side of the door. The two glared at each other, Seerath held a dangerous look in his glare and Selysia held one of amusement.

"What's the matter Seerath? Can't follow?" she asked tauntingly.

"I'll find you Leviathan....there's no where you can go that I won't follow," he growled.

"You're right, but that won't be today will it? By the time the sun goes down, I'll be a million miles away from here and away from you," she sneered and the door slid shut, seperating them.

The sun against the whiteness of the snow was almost blinding as she traveled endlessly through it. The cold seemed not to bother her as she searched from some sort of refuge against the harsh weather or some other form of escape to get her to where she wanted....or rather needed to be. Soon, she stumbled across a small village that sat close to an ocean and in the distance was a ship docking in the harbor. 'perfect,' she thought as she walked faster. She felt as if an eternity had nearly passed when she finally reached the ship and slipped aboard.

The cargo bay of the ship was just a dark as the compound, but the smell of death was not in this place and for that she was greatful. Two questions remained though: How long would it take Seerath to find her? And where exactly was this ship taking her?
