1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

I'm a student. I've worked various jobs for 10 years or so, and in the last couple I've had the opportunity to go back to school. So I did.

2. Where are you from?

I am from a tiny town in southwestern Pennsylvania--I moved around a lot as a kid, but as an adult, I've lived in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Los Angeles. I'm now in the small town of Gettysburg, Pa.

3. Who is your favorite author?

This is hard to say. I have an emotional childhood attachment
to supernatural collections by Bernhardt J. Hurwood. That's not to say he was a particularly great writer. Right now, I'm enjoying the travel writing of Michael Palin. My favorite nature writer is David Quammen. My favorite classic gothic writer, so far, is Matthew Lewis, but I've only got The Monk to go on. Well...there's some.

4. What are your favorite films?

I've been a fan of horror since I was a kid. My favorite movie monster has always been the zombie, which made the big zombie resurgence fun for a while, but it's gotten a little old now. I actually run a blog for zombie-related news. I put a link up sometime after I've been here a bit. In stark contrast to that, I love a lot of great filmmakers: Lars von Trier, Paul Thomas Anderson, Robert Altman, The Coens, Steven Soderbergh, John Sayles, Terrence Malick, Jim Jarmusch, etc, etc.

I'm not saying I've seen every film by all of these (plus) directors, nor do I like every single thing they've done...but I've liked a lot of what I've seen.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

I won't be getting married. I have a fantastic long-term boyfriend, but neither of us see the point of marriage. Actually, we have a lot of issues with the whole thing...none of which there is time to go into here.

6. At your funeral?

Probably won't have a funeral either. Aw, heck...even if I were to get married and have a funeral, I haven't really thought about what music would be played at either. Sorry.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

Quietly, painlessly, when I'm old enough to not enjoy life anymore.

8. What kind of casket would you want?

Don't want one.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?

My favorite, I suppose, is whatever is most comfortable, which I guess would be jeans and a t-shirt.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

Lack of adult-sized problems. But, what I like about being an adult is that I can do whatever I want.

11. What's your favorite band?

I don't have one in particular, so I'll just list the ones I own the most of: Bad Religion, Oingo Boingo, Talking Heads, David Byrne, Elliott Smith, Red House Painters...etc...

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

I went to art school for film make-up and effects when I was much younger. Didn't do much with that for various reasons. So, now I'm an undergraduate (sophomore, going into my fourth semester)--English major, writing minor. I'm focusing my major on Gothic Literature. I found an awesome prof who is willing to work with me to design an independent study concentrating on 18th century gothic, and then to help me out with a kind of syllabus to follow over the summer to cover the 19th century on my own.

13. Why did you join?

I spent the 90's in the goth sub-subculture. It was a big, meaningful chunk of my life, and so sometimes I get nostalgic and such.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?

I'm a chick.

Haha, Oingo Boingo. I wonder what will Pyre say when she meets you.
By the way, I need to know how to emphasize your name or I'll go crazy.
Is your name said like a question or is it to point out how Latin you are? o_O

My name is from the Movie "Rushmore." Watch it, and when you hear it, that would be the best way to say it.

Haha, Rushmore. Got it. But I still have to finish Gone With the Wind before watching another movie.

Hah! I read Oingo Boingo, and knew immediately what my post was going to be:

I-I-I love little girls, they make me feel so good!
I love little girls, they make me feel so bad!

Damn straight. I cant remember what song particularly got me into Boingo--holy crap, that was over 20 years ago, but it's a safe bet it was Dead Man's Party. I do know what sealed the deal...seeing Elfman's flaming red hair. I thought that was the most awesome thing in the world (and probably the reason I embarked on many, many years of fucking up my own hair).

Ah...memories...yay...
