Hello
Hello. Well I'm Renatus, first time poster/member long time reader. Quite possibly the worst person at introducing myself. I am a male teenager with aspergers. I come here in hopes of meeting other people with autism, and the people who understand them best. Good with grammar, average with punctuation. The kind of guy who runs out of things to say a despite the fact that there is much left unsaid. This is another one of those moments. Heh.

Thank you, though I must warn you I haven't thought this through enough. Perhaps I overthink these things and I lose track of what i really want. But I know that I feel like i still need to think about these things more. Maybe I should do it when I'm not tired but perhaps it is in a state close to that of dreams in which the true mind can be expressed.
1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
Well my job for now is just working at my local school district 's technology.deparment doing different things more of grunt work.
My hobby I suppose is to argue seems like I always learn somthing new when I'm done unless it is somthing I know is wrong, then I somtimes tend to get a little stubborn.
2. Where are you from?
Wisconsin, but I was born over in Washington, once I get out on my own I plan on moving back out there.
3. Who is your favorite author?
I prefer to leave this empty for now
4. What are your favorite films?
Master and Commander far side of the world is one of them off the top of my head.
5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Gary Numan- Scanner (might change depending on the bride)
6. At your funeral?
The Verve- Bittersweet Symphony when I was a kid it always got me thinking about things which usualy lead eventualy to death.
7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
I suppose anyway works for me as long as my brain is the last thing to shut down so I can finaly see what death is like.
8. What kind of casket would you want?
Somthing smaller and warm, not one of those big bulky caskets that look soo empty and cold, a cushoned wooden one would suffice I think.
9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I can't say I have one I have nothing I would consider favorite, just clothes. There really isn't anything to do here in Wisconsin so there is no point to dressing up.
10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
The simplicity of it I used to always go where life too me without a second thought always remembering the good memories forgetting the bad parts. Though I do remember in kindergarten I got suspended for the last couple weeks because I didn't want to share the big chair even thought it was supposed to be just my day. I heard later on I attacked the teacher which goes to show how great the mind is at blocking out things.
11. What's your favorite band?
Gary Numan somehow evokes emotions within me. I think it's because he has gone through what I have having aspergers himself. He has talked about his life in a way I can empathize with especialy given how I can't even understand how normal people live the way they do.
12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
Still in high school not long left though, iformation technologies most likely.
13. Why did you join?
To meet other people like myself.
14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Male

Welcome.....I don't have Aspergers but I certainly understand what it feels like, I can't cope in social situations and all my teachers in primary school thought I was autistic. I have Anorexia so I understand the prejudice that comes with Aspergers. Enjoy your stay here.

Renatus,
Your introduction was wonderfully expressive and well written. I don't think that you need to worry about your Aspergers being a deficit when it comes to fitting in with this community. I think that you will do wonderfully well.
You will meet a variety of people here, and unfortunately most will not be worth meeting. However, the ones that are worth the effort will be amazing to spend time with and you will get a lot out of knowing them. You will work out quickly who is worth listening to. Don't worry about people who flame you. Most of the time they are not only bored, but they are also boring and trying to cover up the fact.
In the end, I think that we are all led to an online community like this one because we don't feel we quite fit in at other places.
Welcome. It is indeed lovely to meet you.

I have NLD which is another form of autism.
I always love seeing autistic people who don't act like they can do whatever they want because "they're retards."
I went to special things for YEARS to become what some would call "normal."
So welcome.

Agreed and as autistics these days can we really afford to go around calling ourselves retards, especialy considering there are people who want to kill who we are out of their blind "sympathy". For people who don't know there are people who wish to "cure us" of our autism which would effectivly kill who we are. Worse yet they want to make a test to find autistics before they are born so in the gentler sense know we are comming and to get ready for us. But in reality like they did with down syndrome they would most likely kill us before we are even born. I'm going to go see if they have a thread about Bush's recent 50 million dollar grant towards research to find a cure for autism.

Welcome.
Autism: 2. A tendency to view life in terms of one's own needs and desires.
If you want to go by this definition of autism, I'm severely autistic. Artistic too, sometimes. =)
But seriously, how does autism affect you and others? What are the general drawbacks/hindrances/nuances of being autistic and how does it cause problems in one's daily life?

I really isn't bad as people make it out to be. I think of it more as simply being born with a different point of view. There are a few drawbacks I suppose but they can be overcome if you learn how. Some of the drawbacks are poor organization, lack of social skills which leads to antisocial behavior. It also depends on the severity. Most people tend to think of the steriotypical autistic which is simply a low functioning autistic.
There are many good example of people of have overcome the problems whose names you probobly know.
this link goes to known autistics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_autistic_people
here is a list of people who are speculated to have autism due to the fact that they never had a chance to be diagnosed
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/People_..._been_autistic
gotta love wikipedia
