Progressive talk radio?
OK, I'll admit I'm a news junkie.. I don;t think that there's an hour in the day that I don;t think I want to know what's going on in the world.
I've lived all over the country and even in another country for a prolonged time and have listened to talk and news radio from about everywhere.
To get to the point. The only radio station I pick up in the company vehicles as far as news goes is the "Progressive" station.
Well, regardless of what others might think my opinions are and such, I like to hear all sides. Just to figure out what everyone thinks.
But, But, I have to say 90% of their content was name calling and insulting anyone who does'nt agree with their view. I mean it wasn't grown up stuff at all... it was very childish and immature. I really wanted to hear about the issues and some facts.. It was the typical name calling and insinuating... all very lame...
I know the right wing channels do similar things... but no where near the volume of the horrid stuff this show was spewing.
It was really horrible, all the hate they were spewing.. I had to turn it off.. I don't want to meet people like that on the street!

Let's face it. Most talk radio sucks and blows more than a jet-engine, and the air coming out the backside is just as hot. But once in a while there is a host that comes along who is actually worth the time.
I also listen to talk radio, and yes, lots of pissing contests go on.

Okay, here is one that has been bugging me for years:
Just what the hell does "progressive" mean, anyway? Is it just code for "left-wing"?

The problem with talk radio is that it caters to the extreme views of whatever crowd they claim to support. There is no talk radio that has a moderate view of anything, just ones that take one side or another with the most extreme views available.
The other problem is the listen audience is usually comprised of persons who then take every word to heart and become pretty extreme in their views, with little or no knowledge of most subjects, who listen blindly to the said personality for view which they then can take and put forward as their own since they have a lack of knowledge on the subject(s) discussed on air because they spend their time listening to a radio personalities views on a topic rather than news on a topic.

They use the term "progressive", I don't.
I don't think being progressive in the strict dictionary term means being bully like and irrate and definately not insulting...
And well, I hate to agree with you stern, but yeah, typical listeners seem to have certain points of view...
That being said.. certain introspection once in awhile should keep certain feelings in check. Apparently with the radio hosts on this program it doesn't.
Someone needs to tell them what slander is. And that of all the crimes they are alledging politicians are doing, they are guilty of themselves committing crimes also.
And Drake, yes leftists (their term, not mine) Like to use the label "progressive", along with many other terms, to take the bite out of their harsh views.

Ironically enough, 'progressive' in Ireland and the UK means just the opposite - more right-wing. It's a term the right wing parties (like the Progressive Democrats) use all the time to describe themselves.
Also ironic, the parties here that use DEMOCRAT in their title are much like the REPUBLICANS in the states, where as the parties here that use REPUBLICAN in their title, share more views with DEMOCRATS in the states.
So democrats on this side of the pond are conservative right wing parties while republicans are left wing socialist parties.
It always confuses the tourists here, especially when they try and follow the news.

When you're in the UK colonies.. just remember to reverse everything.. then you won't be confused...lol
Now... I have to rotate my tires..... : (
Just what I like to do on my saturday mornings.... not!
