Bleaching hair, and dying it twice?
So, this week I am bleaching my hair and dying it blue, but I start work in a week so I am going to dye it black next Sunday. My question is, will this kill my hair and make something horrible happen, like it falling out? I have pretty thick hair, but I'm not sure.

usually just the bleaching aspect will make your hair fall out, and if you have thick hair there shouldn't be a problem.
i dye my hair once every two to four weeks because im a fiend for bright colors, and it isnt even fried yet. its only been a year though.

I uh...I would NOT recommend that at all.
Mostly because it's within a week of each other. Like...I REALLY advise against that.

As Underwater Ophelia said, do not do that to your hair. Just this past Monday I had to cut off most of my hair due to over processing. You'll end up with a nasty mess on your head if you do it and there's no saving your hair once it's been damaged by bleaching and coloring.

As above, my daughter had to get her hair cut short because we over processed it at home.

If the blue is something like semi-permanent Manic Panic followed by an ammonia free semi-permanent black it should be fine. The only real damage will be done by the bleaching.
Though you might want to reconsider going to the expense and trouble of bleaching your hair and dying it blue if it's only going to be in for a week.

You could always try henna dye. I hear it's much more forgiving on your hair than the extreme chemical ones.
Or use one of those temporary blue dyes that washes out after one wash - it won't damage your hair since it doesn't enter the fibres, just sticks on the outside.

Well I threw myself in the deep end when I bleached my streak in as first time it came out ok and the only strange thing was my hair went a little dry. But the second time round my hair was virtually falling out when it was wet so its put me off using bleach quite a bit as it can really damage it, as for bleaching it and then dying it... hmmm well Ive bleached my hair and then dyed it pink which wasnt too bad on my hair even though the colour was uneven so I had to re-dye it again straight after. But it depends really. Rather than ignoring those test patch things actually try it if your really weary and see how your hair reacts to it then you might have an idea, but one cant really judge in these situations unless say a pro decided what would be the better option.

Make sure you do an allergy test before using bleach/dye. Someone I know is in hospital getting a skin graft coz the bleach kinda melted her head. Not fun.

I was thinking of dying my hair black, then bleaching some tips and dying them a different colour. If the dye is ok, I know it might not be, but the bleach sounds worse, then even if the bleach doesn't go well the worst that will happen is the hair could break where its been bleached right?
I straighten it as well so...

i dunno if this is true, but i bought loreal haircolor remover, and it lightened my hair alot- it was basically powder mixed with peroxide. I dont know if that is as harmful as using standard bleaching kits.

Well when I bleach my streak Ive used proper bleaching kits as they have the proper effects when done using it so I dont know about other products.
And as for your hair reaction. It depends really, especially if you straighten it your hair might be quite dry but I dont know if that alters any effects bleaching might have. If you apply too much for example your hair becomes weak and particularly the ends pull out in little clumps when its wet after washing it out, you need to be quite careful as its strong stuff.
Im no expert though, this is just my experience when bleaching my hair. But as for dyeing my hair black and purple and every other colour my hairs had no problems. Just bleaching it sometimes makes it dry and really weak.

Why bleach in the first place, if in the end you're going to end up with a color that doesn't require bleaching? It's a needless stress on your hair. If you really must have blue hair for a short time, I suggest getting one of those colored hair gels. You can style your hair and it'll be whatever color you want... untill you wash it out.

Oh. Never mind, then. Though it will still work.

Thank you, I'm probably not going to do it for a bit, and when I do I'll have it done professionally and ask them about it beforehand. Yeh my hair already gets dry sometimes from straightening, but I don't use any conditioner or that heat protection stuff so they would probably help.
