If I take an American PS2 to England can I still buy new games for it?

I bought my PS2 here in the US. I may move to england and if I take my PS2 I will obviously have to use an adapter to plug the console into the electrical socket but can I still buy PS2 games from England and have them work on my PS2?
((That is if I also buy a multi system TV in England.
That way I can still play my US games (NTSC), but can I play games from Europe? (PAL)))

So basically do I need a mod chip? what brand? what store to buy at?

I frankly can't see any reason why not. If anything they don't make their own games and they make it for ps2. Otherwise we would never have any japanese games for ps25 here in the USA. It's all still the same sony.

Okay. after much research...not that much but...anyway. I've found out that I will need a multisystem TV AND a chip. If anyone has any ideas on what chip is the best, please tell me.

And Renatus, you are correct about US and Japanese games working with vice versa systems but I have learned that is because these countries use NTSC and european and most other countries use PAL.

It won't work. I have both a US and UK PS2 and to get the US one werkin here you have to do a few things.

First, buy and install a MOD chip. Second, once here you have to get a TV that supports NTSC as PAL is the video standard. Finally a power converter as we have a higher voltage on our lines and plugging it in will fry it without the converter.

Outside the US all TV's have a difference number of horizontal and vertical lines. Also, outside the US all DVD's are in a different zone. So this way manufactures can make stuff for the states, and everywhere else.

Just buy a PS2 here. They can be got for about €50 these days.

Also, most DVD players outside of the states are region free, meaning they play all discs from all countries in all formats. Most newer tellys do the same.

Bottom line - if you buy your equipment here, it will be cheaper, work anywhere in the world (except america).

I'm by no means an expert on this, however, I will say that, usually, video game equipment in different areas is meant to fit certain, different needs depending on where it is made, and thus will not work anywhere else.

I know that there are European games, so if you plan on buying more be sure to look for any American Games. I am not sure if your american PS2 will be able to read European games, you better ask on a game forum, such as Gamefaqs or IGN.
