Anyone here into Swing/Big Band artists?

Most of my music interests are vested in the genre of the swing era. I adore artists like those in the Rat Pack. I was wondering if anyone here had similar interests.

There's always debate here over what is and isn't "goth" in music, but I sincerely doubt that said goth rock is all you guys are interested in.

Well, I'm a big fan of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Royal Crown Revue. Other than that, I can't think of anything I listen to anything that would really qualify as Big Band/Swing.

No not really, I am BIG fan of Nina Simone, John Coltrane, Acker Bilk and Louis Armstrong. So, that's Jazz more than anything else.

You know, I couldn't name a swing artist or a big band artist if I tried to.

But I have never heard a 'swing song' I didn't like.

I have a few cd's of Glen Miller lying about. I also have some swing and crooner albums somewhere. I particularly like Robbie William's swing cd with his version of Sinatra music. (Swing while you're winning, I think it's called)

I quite love Squirrel Nut Zippers, but, like Haggard, I'm a bit more into the jazz/blues side of things. Harry Connick, jr., is a bit of a compromise between the two, and I like him quite a lot. His was the first concert I ever went to, when I was very little.

Some great suggestions have already been made in this thread. I'm more into popularized artists like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin (*melts*) but you can Wikipedia "big band" or "classic pop" and get a bunch of big names that would be easiest to find music for.

Eh, but yes, the swing. That's the bee's knees. I haven't explored it much, but I've loved every song of that genre I've heard. I like Benny Goodman and the more modern band, Cherry Poppin' Daddies.

I just find that lots of people in subcultures share these weird little likings for something totally unrelated to said subculture, but collectively. Just scoping out more. It's interesting!

Swing music is fun to listen to. I have loads of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Cherry Poppin Daddies and several other bands. I have always enjoyed it, probably because it is generally so different from my normal music. My only complaint is that its very hard not to dance when I am listening to it, and that's not a pretty sight.

Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Ella, and Squirrel Nut Zippers are my favorites, though I hardly ever listen to them unless my parents are.

I've also seen Big Bad Voodoo Daddy live, twice.

I adore swing and those kinds of jazz (and musical tunes). I love, love, love it. Frank Sinatra is one of my greatest heroes. I second Cappinator on the Robbie Williams cd - it's great (I've listened to mine so often it wore out and I had to get a new one...).
