Life, and what to make of it..
So.. I'm at this point in life where all the big decisions must be made. Who will you be, what will you do, what will become of you. Go out, conquer the world, find a job! Be somebody!
All fine and dandy really, 'cept I have no clue who I want to be. Truth be told, I don't want to be anything. I don't want to work at all.. I haven't found a single thing I'd fancy doing enough to want to dedicate my whole life to it. None, nada! My meager artistic talents would not be enough to earn me any money, and the only thing I could possibly see myself doing all my life and actually enjoying would be watching movies or listening to music. Earning a living as a movie/music critic is rather impossible tho', especially in a country this small. =/
I know that is what everyone does.. they find a job, they work. Someone my age should be full of energy and ready to get their life started, but I just feel.. so very old. I want to have a house, sit in a rocking chair and pet my cat, not go out and make a career, work work work for years and years. I want to be 70 years old so I wouldn't have to worry about making a living for the next 50 years. I wouldn't even mind finding a rich old guy to marry, but rich old guys want blonde slim pretty trophy wives, not fugly brunette chubby geeks. =/
Sure I could force myself to find some job - any job - and work, but I fear that might spiral me straight into depression, forcing myself to do something I hate day after day after day.. I don't want to end up worse than I was to begin with.
I just lack any and all motivation to do something with my life. -sigh- I think my soul is old, quite so.. At least that's the way I feel more often than not. How do you build a life when you haven't the smallest bit of desire to do so.

I didn't bother to read any of that.
Instead, I picked the sock fluff out from between my toes.

You should probably try to find a job that involves creativity... I can identify with you, and that's what I'm trying to do.

Find your passion - turn it into your career. Be your own boss. It's possible I did it. I got made redundant last year and now I run my own business. Do less work - and earn more money! YAY!
I can recommend a book or two to give you inspiration.

Yeah, definately try and find something that involves creativity.
Or be like me, and aim to live in a cardboard box for the rest of your life...But that's a different story. I couldn't find anything good in my life so I decided to end all of my futuristic goals and become a hobo. [But I made a comeback and found something good enough to work for.]

Don't sweat it. You sound young. I know 40-year olds who still don't know what they want to do with their lives, but they seem to be some of the happiest people I know.
Very few people know from youngest age what they want to be. Some people just wake up one day and say 'hey, I'm gonna do this!', and that's just as rare. As for me, I'm also one of those that are just figuring it out as I go along. Hell, I've got four degrees already and not doing anything remotely close to what I've studied (I'm 28, in case you're wondering).
I think the important thing is to just try things. If something interests you now, go for it. Maybe in a year's time or so you'll realize that it's not for you, then try something else. Just because it didn't work doesn't mean you failed - you tried and you learned. What's the worst that can happen? You'll only end up having lived a full life.
Life happens when you're busy making other plans for your future - and it happens quickly. So be careful.

Excellent advice. Trying different things is how you find that special activity or subject that will light you up and take hold of your passion, and passion is what you will need to get up and go to work everyday. Or night, depending on what you will do.
Don't marry a rich guy to have someone take care of you, why would you want to be subservient to someone else? Wouldn't you rather walk side by side with a life partner?
Do you like reading? Maybe working at a bookstore or library will be for you.
Do you like children? Maybe teaching will be rewarding. List your likes and loves and skills, then see what occupations may coincide with that list, and then try them. It doesn't have to be a "big decision" or commitment at your age.
