Symphonic Metal bands

Does anyone like any symphonic metal bands? I love Within Temptation. Sharon den Adel's voice is beautiful. Nightwish is good as well. Does anyone have any other symphonic metal bands they like? I was just wondering because I was looking for more bands to get into to.

Tristania, Agalloch, and Lacuna coil would probably suit your tastes as well. Just a guess. They're not really symphonic, but they seem to fit the trend.

I absolutely adore Within Temptation! Nightwish is great as well. So is Theatre of Tragedy.

Yes, I love them! Lacuna Coil is awesome. You should check out Emilie Autumn--she has string and electric violins, violas, cellos, double basses (the ones you see in a string orchestra, not in a heavy metal band), harpsichords, and pianos in the background...her lyrics are great and the music is catchy, and it has a metal vibe to it.

A lot of black metal uses synth and can sound symphonic. I'd investigate something in that vein.

I don't know what you're looking for in a singer, but Limbonic Art (Moon in the Scorpio album) has a symphonic type of sound.

You might like the following bands: Sonata Arctica, Kamelot, Epica, Adastreia, Aesma Daeva, Angtoria, Leaves' Eyes, Lunatica, Visions of Atlantis, Sirenia....

I listen to so much symphonic/progressive metal that I could go on for ages and ages. So I'll just leave you with that small list--that should give you enough to check out for the time being. If you need more, just let me know, and I'd be happy to point you towards a few other bands I listen to.

This right here may be what you're looking for. It's called Haggard and it is truly symphonic with practically a damn orchestra sitting behind the band. There are operatic female vocals coupled with growling metal vocals; pretty cool (also a hint of celtic sound to it):

http://www.soniccathedral.com/ might have some stuff to interest you. It's a whole site devoted to female vocalists, a lot of it symphonic metal. I'm a big fan of Sonata Arctica, Blind Guardian, Dream Theatre, Qntal, To-Mera, and Epica. There's a lot of great folk metal bands you might like too, like Elvenking, In Extremo, Subway to Sally, Korpiklaani, and Finntroll.

Cool

Therion,

This band is amazing, and their music is so epic and dynamic (check out their last album `Gothic Kabbalah` it is one of the best albums I`ve heard in a long time).

Here is some more info on them ...

`Therion may not have been the first band to fuse operatic singing in metal, but Christofer Johnsson's crew is generally regarded as the standard bearer in the field, ever since he first toyed with the idea on Lepaca Kliffoth in 1995. Gradually the opera singing became less of a background novelty, to the point that Johnsson himself stopped singing altogether and now employs various guest singers, both from the opera and metal worlds. Since that time Therion has remarkably maintained a high standard of quality, with ambitious releases such as the twin album collection of Lemuria/Sirius B and the new double-CD effort Gothic Kaballah.`

Theatres Des Vampires
One of the most original sounds I've heard
But only if you like vampires.
They've changed a lot and switched singers so many times, but that just means you get to choose whichever style of them you want.

Pain and pleasure
But I picked and chose some of their less growly older songs, which I like as well.
They are really really original to me.

I love all of the bands that have been mentioned here. Within Temptation make beautiful music. Haven't heard much of Tristania but what i've heard is good. Also, Sirenia.

Oh, and I love Therion. They make some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard. Vovin and Deggial are my favorite albums.
