Nipple piercing.

Ok so does anyone here have one? If yes here are questions.
This is mostly for women.
Does it get in the way if you are lets say wearing a bra or a tight shirt? Do your nipples lose sensitivity after you get them done?
And I know we are talking about nipples but lets all be mature.

lololol nipplz...

With that out of my system, I may not be female, but I read BMEzine too much.

Your nipples gain sensitivity, not lose it. That's one of the reasons a lot of people get them.

As for tight shirts, they sometimes 'show through' the shirts, but I don't know about "getting in the way."

I personally do not have them yet, but my older sister does. She would reccomend wearing a sports bra to sleep in the first few weeks and a nice fitting soft bra normally during the day to minimize friction and movement. Once healed, I don't think they'd get in the way very much because you'd be used to them. It's just like any other piercing. You do normally gain sensitivity with them, especially in women. Hope that helps, and let us know if you decide to do it or not!

Beware of your own hair or your partners though, if it's really long....that is the worst thing ever, when hair gets caught on them...then you try and move your head/your partner moves their head. ARGH! bad memories...lol.

They can take up to a year to heal, so if they don't heal quickly, don't be worried.

You do gain some sensitivity....but not a vast amount.

Oh ouch about the ripping out of piercings. So which type of jewelery would you say has the least chance of getting ripped off accidentally.

They never got ripped out, it just hurts quite alot when pulled on very hard.

When it comes to hair, a ring or circular barbell (the added advantage of a circular barbell is there is a gap inbetween the balls so, not much would have a chance of getting caught on it) would less likely end up having hair accidently wrapped around it. I can't wear rings/circular barbells because I have two in each nipple rather than one. Otherwise I probably would put a ring in around my boyfriend.

Piercers prefer to use barbells at first because it's less likely they'll introduce bacteria into the piercing and because they sit against the skin, so there is less chance of irritation.

You just have to be aware really.

I actually just got mine pierced a few days ago and I highly reccomend it. Actually getting them pierced doesnt hurt but they are sore for the first two days. I heard barbells are easier to heal but it varies from person to person. My barbells have yet to get caught on anything and they are only sore after I clean them. I havent really had them long enough to determine if the extra sensitivity is permanent or because its a healing wound.

Anyways... DO IT!

Well, my boyfriend had his done, and it made them WAY more sensitive.
Now, you're a girl, and I don't know how big your boobies are, but I'm guessing you'll have to wear a really supportive bra at first, and don't wear shirts that are too tight.

BUY THE H2OCEAN SPRAY. I can't stress that enough.

I had them done and had to get them removed. Do not get them if you play full contact sports.

My nips had little feeling to begin with, so I cannot fully comment onany gain or loss of sensitivity, as there was none for me. They are hard to keep clean as, even though I cleaned them often, the pus (that is normal) kept caking. This is partially because I am very active and partially...

.. because I turned out to be allergic to stainless steel.

My ears are fine with it, but my nipples and belly button are allergic and I began to develop keloids. It's funny to think that one part of your body is allergic but the other isn't, but th eskin is different in different areas.

I wore bandages and a sportsbra for soccer; and loose clean shirts, no bra, for regular wear, for six weeks and then a looser bra. Talk to a local piercer or two first. They can be fun, but they can also become a nightmare.

Yes, actually, but it's rare.

The best resource for piercing information is a reputable and experienced piercer. Second to that, I highly recommend bmezine.com.

Get pierced with either straight barbells or captive D-rings. It seems that a straight hole heals easier and forms a fistula with less scarring. I'd reccomend just plain sea salt soaks, as some formulas contain other additives that really aren't nessecary and soaks promote better healing. Also vitamin e or emu oil helps because salt soaking tends to dry skin out a lot.

Bars are by far the best to get pierced with cos they dont move about in the piercing like rings, which is eyewatering when they have dried lymph on as a new piercing inevitably will. Also you are less likely to get sad nipple; sometimes the shape and weight of a ring can pull the piercing down a little. Rings are better once healed though; I have bars in both of mine and they have been known to get caught in the straps of a vestie (right passion killer that one), caught in a door handle (no, I don't know how I did that either, though my housemate still hoots with laughter to this day at the resounding clang) and prove very awkward doing metalwork with no bra on....and I only have weeny bazoomers.

Oh and make sure you wear a really really good bra when you go to get them done, the tighter the better; they wont hurt under pressure but certainly will if required to jiggle...

Lavender essential oil is very good as it reduces scar tissue and should you become infected then use Tea tree oil, don't use chemical sprays etc unless adviced by a doctor should any infection become severe.

Use bars to start with then move onto rings when healed and yes the hair getting caught does hurt ;-)

As for gaining sensitivity etc, everyone is different, when I had mine done the pain was terrible, the left started to grow out so having that repierced hurt, I didn't lose or gain sensitivity.

Gosh. Is that so? Someone has to look at your nipple in order to get a nipple piercing? XD Sorry, I just to say that.

Oh wow.

One more thing on the sensitivity issue--if you've already got sensitive nipples, piercing them can increase that to the point that even a light touch is painfully stimulating. Which could be a good thing, if that's what you like.

I found it does increase sensitivity, even after the piercing is gone. The difference between my (formerly) pierced nipple and my un-pierced one is bizarre :S

Be very careful with playing with the piercing or letting others play with it before it's fully healed. Six months or so after mine was done, my then boyfriend tugged too hard on it and it started to reject thereafter. I cannot emphasise this enough, it hurts like hell!
