Frickein' Myspace bands!!!!!!!!!
Man--it is terrible when you have you post a BLOG to tell people to stop spamming your space -- I am a musician and I understand about marketing, but I think it is rude to come on someone's space and clutter it with YOUR BANDS CRAP!!
I mean who thought this was a GOOD idea????
This is the blog I posted below to fellow musicians:
Hey guys! I love musicians and bands I really do, you are my tribe, and I really, really, really want to add you to my friends list, but most bands come on, never even send you an email or thank you and then place SPAM comments about their CD's SHOWS, or BIOS all over your page.
In all my years on Myspace it has never occurred to me to go on some other musicians page and try to sell MY own show.
To me that's like crashing someone else's party and inviting everyone over to your house. Or taking over someone else's commercial to sell your own product.
Now, if we were friends a while and you wanted to promote a show on my page, I'd gladly do so, but to act as if you desire to befriend someone and then just blatantly use their space--that is very wrong. I don't do that and never will do it.
Sheesh. Little wonder people stopped accepting adds from bands!
My dear Tribe! If you want to friend me so we can become pals with a similar interest that happens to be music, then great, you are welcome, but if you plan to use my Myspace page as your own personal billboard, don't bother to apply!

I didn't register on myspace as a musician, however, I get that kind of advertising all of the time. Granted, I'm guilty of "friending" the bands, but I think it's really wrong to do that to a fellow musician. Then again, some will stoop to any low to promote their products...

MySpace sucks, anyway. And as if it's not bad enough that 95% of the bands on MySpace whore themselves out in every imaginable way, what make it worse is that 90% of them really suck.

Aaroneet, I don't mind someone friending me just for friending sake, there are people I barely speak to and vice versa, although if they do drops lines I always say hi! Just don't spam me to death--I mean one guy came on and posted this BIG ASS HTML thing everyday--ate up my comments section...LOL

There are many bands that befreind me on myspace, but they have never SPAMMED me. I think some of them just want to have more friends, and get you to know them. I hope they never SPAM me, though.

But telling you about their band isn't spamming.
If you are their friend it should normaly mean you are interested in their music and WANT info on new songs or shows etc.

Well, my heart goes out to you. But, to tell you the truth, I don't use Facebook neither myspace. They both suck!!!!!!! I agree with Beneath the Shadows. I don't call myself a musician but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
