Spooky Kid
Can we please stop using the term 'Spooky Kid' as a term to mean poser goth? A spooky kid is a Marilyn Manson fan. The original band was Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. As a gigantic Marilyn Manson fan, I really get annoyed when I see someone using Spooky Kid as a derogatory remark. Seriously...

Hmm....I thought a Marilyn Manson fan was called a Masonite. Hmm, people could also be using Spooky Kid as well.
Well, I don't use spooky kid nor babybat as a derogatory remark, though I do use the term mallgoth as one. But we have alot of those around here. >.>

The only people I've heard call people Mansonites are the people on this site.

I've heard more people use the term mansonites than the term spookykids.
Mansonite is the word for a zealous fan of Marilyn Manson.
A spookykid is something more than that. It's those people that wear baggy tripp pants and crow makeup. It's those people that go to the mall specifically to scare people and then say "what are you lookin' at!". They were called spooky kids because of marilyn manson's band; but not because they were necessarily MM fans.

I don't think the term "spooky kid," when used to describe a poser, is meant to have any relation to Marilyn Manson himself, despite where the term was borrowed from. Yes, "spooky kid" is a name for a Manson fan, but slang terms can mean more than one thing. A spooky kid like the one Jillian described may or may not claim that Manson is a goth god, but other than the fact that such an assertation would be incorrect it has little to do with it.

Yeah, just look up almost anything on Urban Dictionary.
I've always heard the term "Mansonites" for Manson fanatics, and "spooky kid" for what Jillian described, or some variation thereof. I haven't heard "spooky kid" much though.
Just randomly, the picture of the lady(?) on the left side of the site looks like she's very upset that someone's gently pulling her hair away from her face. :\

Wow, this almost feels like a term from antiquity. :-D Well, I've always heard it as slang for a poser goth, although at the time I really remember it being used, most poser goths were mansonites, so that probably hasn't helped keep things clear.

I was just going to say that "spooky kid" originally just meant "Marilyn Manson fan," but the negative connotation was earned by Manson fans via their silly behavior and frequent insistence on invading the goth scene. It wouldn't be an insult if they hadn't made it one.

Really, I don't see the harm in calling someone a 'spooky kid' if the title is well-deserved. You see 'em everywhere, running around with make up that looks like it was applied with a trowel and pretending to be vampires while listening to Slipknot or MM.

Just curious, but have you been living under a rock? Or are you brand new to this?

Hmm, I've heard the term "mansonite" used outside of this site many times. Which is why I was confused. Should get all bent up out of this though. It's going to happen and it's going to keep happening regardless if you bring it to attention on this site. The world is a sad, sad place.

I honestly USED to call people spooky kids, or mansonites. Up until the time that I realised that people are allowed to act how they want even if I disagree. Even if you go by the slang term, calling people mall goths becausethey like to get attention. When you really think about it? so what? why are they NOT allowed to like attention?
