Here here, I second that statement. Just like any scene, there are people who make biased remarks and so on and so forth. That's not unique of the scene. Loneliness does not make people goth. The clothing style and "lifestyle", the scene in general is but an extention of the genre of music.
Most of us are some of the realest goths you'll probably ever meet, but at the same time there's a lot about us that isn't stereotypically gothic, but that does not in any way detract from our "gothiness."
I, for instance, am for the most part a very happy person. Despite the bouts of lonliness that may hit me from time to time. While black may be the main color theme of my wardrobe, I do wear other colors from time to time.
Make of it what you will, but again, the scene is merely an extention of the genre of music.
