Hi all!

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a full time college student at Florida Community College at Jacksonville, where I work as a student aide. I'm majoring in English at the moment (hoping to double major in English Lit or Animation when I transfer to uni). I like to write, draw comics/cartoons, I play guitar (fairly well), comics and manga, anime, and collect action figures. So yeah. I'm kinda dorky.

2. Where are you from?
Fernandina Beach, FL. About 45 minutes to an hour from Jacksonville

3. Who is your favorite author?
Jack Kerouac, J.K. Rowling, Brian Jacques, Robert Jordan, Robert E. Howard, H.P. Lovecraft, Hunter S. Thompson, Marv Wolfman, Peter David, Geoff Johns, K.A. Applegate, James Robinson, and a load more

4. What are your favorite films?
Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones 1-3, Back to the Future 1-3, Robocop, all the Universal horror films from 1931-1954, Golden Age of Hollywood movies, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and a load more

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Forever Love by X-Japan

6. At your funeral?
Not that I'd know what it would be, but The Cure's Just Like Heaven.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Tangoing with Lady Death to "Just Like Starting Over" by John Lennon

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Actually, cremation

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
black/blue jeans, black/blue/plaid/striped shirt with an occasional comic book character on it, Converse/Airwalks, black M-65 military jacket

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Playgrounds

11. What's your favorite band?
I listen to a lot of different music, but my all time favorites are The Beatles, The Who, Led Zeppelin, the Beach Boys, XTC, and AC/DC. Starting to listen to a lot of bands considered in the Goth genre like Sex Gang Children and Bauhaus (I've always been a fringe fan of Siouxsie and the Banshees and the Cure). Would the Stranglers be considered Goth? I've always wondered that...

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
College-level at the moment, and English is my degree. I'm hoping to become a teacher and someday soon teach the subject in Japan.

13. Why did you join?
Starting to embrace the dark side...(which also helps cause I'm already black).

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Male

Me in a nutshell:

I've had Gothish leanings ever since I was little kid reading Stephen King and writing stories that would more than once get me a visit to the principal's office for being too morbid. I never knew why I was so dark on the inside, or where the darkness came from, but it usually poured over into my fiction in the form of what my friends call "doom 'n gloom stories". I don't necessarily dress Goth, but I have been known to go full-on black in my own way (boots and Doc Martens literally kill my feet, so I much prefer sneakers). I hung around some Goths in high school who were pretty cool, but didn't really start to seriously think about getting into the culture until now. Pretty much, I'm interested in learning more about it than what the media shoves down peoples throats , but I must say, having trolled around for the last few days on this site, that it feels pretty normal being around here.

In any case, see youz around!

Bwahaha.

That was fantastic.

Anyways, I'm glad you joined. I like dorky people, as I am somewhat of a dork myself.

Oh, and The Stranglers, IMO are more punk/new wave than goth rock. I like 'em no matter what genre they're considered, though!

Groovy cool to meet you GL.

You'll be seeing a lot more of my dorky traits the more I hang around here. I didn't even begin to mention my fascination with all things Star Trek...

Comic books and RPG games for me...

Star Trek hasn't particularly caught my interest as I'm not that into sci-fi (I like fantasy more) but I certainly applaud it, it was groundbreaking in every sense of the word and shattered boundaries - race, gender, sexuality, etc. And it started what we now know as fanfiction... haha (come on, it's fun to read!).

So are you a Borg fan or do I need to assimilate you?

Welcome to g-net. If you want to check out a great FL-based webzine, I recommend Midnight Calling:

http://www.midnightcalling.com/

As far as the Stranglers - they're technically punk, but you are right about them having their darker moments. (One of which was not "Peaches" :-D ) I've spun them at my night and had people dance, but my night isn't as typical as it ought to be. ;-)

If you're looking for some other good synth-punky stuff, I recommend Suicide's self-titled album. It's rougher around the edges, but it's a reasonable gateway to a lot of other music, including a good deal of late 70's/early 80's Sheffield scene bands.

Not a problem at all. Aiden, who is runs the zine, DJs in FL on occasion as well, and was doing a weekly event for a while. If I find out anything about any new nights he's doing, I'll let you know. (Hopefully it'll be within a couple hours of you)

Gothic.net is a drug-free family site, so if you'd be so kind to keep your devil talk of XTC and marijuana, the devil's harvest, to filthydrunkenpornstar.net, that would be just splendid. That is, if in your condition you can even read. Maybe if you stopped having gang sex with children like a catholic party ball you'd accept our Lord Christ Almighty as your savior. Fucking sinner scum.

A Sex Gang Children fan, are you? ^^ If that's not a "Cannibal Queen" reference then I must be among the insane. If you've been Peter all along then I was damn fooled. Hah.

My name is Pleebert Smoov. This 'Peter' of whom you speak is a dolt. I left him to languish, suffer, and die in my prison. You and Spoon. up there may be next if you burn me with your mouth just once more.

I'd say the Stranglers are post-punk, but not gothic.

The Stranglers are awesome, though.
