Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Hmm.. Little help please?
This Sunday me and this girl I really like are going to Southampton just to look round shops, really shes just a friend but I really like her. Anyway I was wondering if you think I should go dressed in my goth stuff, keep in mind I may be meeting her parents because I want her to come to London with me next week and they dont know me sooo...
Anyway, help would be good, thanks a lot.

You should dress in what you feel like wearing. Don't go out of your way to look ridiculously over the top, but don't make a conscious effort to look "normal". Be who you are, but remember to be polite and well spoken. If you play your cards right and don't make an ass of yourself, her parent's should judge you on who you are, not what you look like.

Yes, dress what you want. But do not over do it. Stick to less if your going to meet her parents. If you wear make-up then stick to little or none at all. Nothing over the top for clothing wise. e.x. chains, etc. You get the point. I'm only listing here because of the parents, wait till her parents get to know you till you decide to do something over the top.

don't wear makeup, chains or spikes and tight trousers if you want to please her parents... or you can just go as yourself and charm them with your winning personality, trust me a personality can outshine the clothes you wear any day ^^

ok two things first, well here in the united states, people dont judge often by personality. even though that is true here i still find that its better to dress the way you want because honesty is gonna look the best even though you may want to look "presentable" just be who you are and if they like you they like you if they dont because of the way you look they arent that great of people anyway... but other than that... just really do what you normaly do you seem like a nice person and reallly thats all that matters to parents not only that but your gonna be alot more comfortable in your regular clothes than in something you normally wouldnt wear and trust me they will be judging you

You want a horribly graphic Cannibal Corpse shirt like the 'Unleashing The Bloodthirsty' one that I am wearing.
You want to wear trousers that are skin-coloured, and then smear red jam or something onto them so that you can claim that they are sewn from the skin and flesh of stillborns.
You do not wear leather. Instead, you wear a coat made of just cow skin, with nothing done to it. Cult.
Your hair? Deathhawk.

Thanks guys, well I was planning to go in an iron maiden shirt, baggy black trousers, nail polish, black fingerless gloves, my black trench coat, some rings and new rock boots.

For a good impression and a gothish look, a black shirt (button shirt, not t-shirt) over non-baggy black jeans is almost always flattering and leaves a good impression.
You seem a lot more metal, though, so (were I male) the only things I'd be wary of are wearing nail polish, overtly religious or anti-religious symbols/images, spikes and OTT jewellery. Baggy jeans, trench coat, Maiden t-shirt, sensibly heavy boots? Go for it.

Well, you'll make an impression on her parents, that's for sure.
Given that outfit, you'll be better off dressing goth instead.

Indeed he would.
And gotta say, as places go, Southampton has very little to do.
It has a little more than where I am, but still not a huge amount.
EDIT:
Chazz - as you seem to be impervious to the difference between metal and goth, add me on msn (dead_days@hotmail.co.uk) and ye shall be made pervious....
