Dumping ashes in the water at Disney is no fun at all! She should have dressed as Tinkerbell and gone around sprinkling people with "fairy dust."

That's pretty gross, I think. I don't want dead people on me.

Well technecaly everyone has a thin layer of dead human flesh on them at any given time due to human flesh or flesh in general compsing a great deal of the dust in the world. It's like how the Earth is constantly being covered in layers of space dust, essentialy the remains of unformed or destroyed planets.

I don't know where people get off thinking it's cool to dump people's remains in random places like public water or in pet stores or whatever else they've thought of. It's annoying, and remind me of something hippies would do.

Yeah, but you usually don't think about it being the remains of someone else, if you think of it at all. The woman dumping ashes of a loved one in a public place where children play is another. I get pissy if someone dumps the ashes from a grill near the playground where my son plays!! I can't imagine the white-hot rage I'd go into I saw someone pouring the remains of dear departed Grandma into the sandbox.

I honestly don't see whats so wrong with it all? If she hadn't have been caught nobody would be affected. It's not like she is causing bodily harm, or endangering other people. Get over it. So much disgusting shit is in everyday life that we don't think about, so whats the remains of a dead person? If there are health issues I would understand, but none are jumping to mind.

It's the fact that it's disrespectful.
I don't care if it won't hurt me, I don't want the charred remains of someone I don't know on me. She's taking the liberty of putting human remains in a place where people do not want them.

Through that logic ashes should only be scattered in pre-approved areas. I want to be scattered in the Mediteranean, should all bordering countries and frequenters of the beach be notified and made sure they aren't offended?

No, but that's a huge area, and one not crowded with people constantly.

Um, that's quite disrespectful to the deceased... unless that's what they wanted.

Umm I don't know... I suppose it's disgusting somehow to have dead human all over you, but if there are no health issues and the deceased person WANTED that (s/he must have been a really scary person if that's the case), I don't see any other problem except the people not wanting her to do that.
In my country we have a saying that says "Eyes that don't see, heart that doesn't feel", so if nobody had seen her and know there are human ashes in the water, nobody would be so upset, would they? I don't think it's something that can be percieved...

The surprising thing is that they say it's a "growing trend". I mean, for real?

If I were the dead person I wouldn't want my ashes dumped in a theme park.

Well, it's ASH.

I can't tell you the number of times I've been covered in ash by nastier things.

I'm just saying. Are there different kinds of ash? I'm not so sure. So I really wonder what difference it would make, save for the fact that it's a somewhat large quantity of ash in a small area at one time.

"Disneyland workers were recently forced to close the "Pirates of the Caribbean" attraction after a ride security camera caught a woman apparently dumping human remains, in what may be a growing trend."

I can't see this as a "growing trend" and I so hope it doesn't. People are crazy.

Who says 'when I die, scatter my ashes on the <fill-in-the-blank> ride at disneyland'.

Thats a pretty dull imagination there. People have their ashes scatter because they think their spirit might bond with the area and dwell there for eternity. Who wants to watch animatronic pirates for all of eternity?

A lot of people seem to do, according to this "growing trend" thing.

A lot of really scary people in my opinion.

Maybe the dead person wanted to scare kids and creep out families for all eternity? Create a new local legend and thus always be remembered? I dunno. Not my thing.
I want to be donated to medical science! The cancerous and broken down bits can be used for testing, the useful bits can be used to fix people (yay for transplants!), and if I'm really lucky I can persuade someone to tan my skin and make a nice book out of my hide.
Anything not used as such can be incinerated, and the ash can be scattered at a gig by one of my favourite bands. There will of course be an announcement at the start of the gig explaining that Ms D, long time fan of the ban and patron of the scene, had died of something or other the previous winter and had made it clear that she wanted her ashes scattered at so-and-so's next live performance.

Wow. The fact that this turns so many folks off here really surprises me. O.o;;;

For one, if that was the cremated person's last wishes...to be scattered across Disneyland...then why not?

For two, if dumped properly, the ash isn't going to hurt anyone; it's no worse than going to the beach and getting sand on you, or breathing the air in L. A. county.

As far as -I'm- concerned, this is one of the coolest things I've heard of someone doing with their loved one's ashes, and I hope it stays a trend.
