You have an interesting point, FF8 did have that amazing musical score as well as glimpse as to the adventures to come.
"If you come here... You will find me..."
Crackin' stuff, because it was oh so dramatic.
And then it's followed up by seeing Balamb Garden which is just beautiful, which is then shortly followed by the assault on Dollet which is another beautiful and exciting scene.
FF8 does have one of the better starts, ten comes kind of close with the 'Otherworld' track over the Blitzball game (that was so athmosphereic!) but personally I like nine the best I think, but that's purely on personal preference because I like the style of the game in general.
Maybe it's because FF8 was the first game that you played, you are unintentionally biased somewhat?
