Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

compensating for lipstick
So I have been wearing red lipstick for what seems like ever, however lately I can't help but get annoyed at the fact that it gets all over the place, even the high quality stuff starts rubbing off when you need it to stay on most (ex.kissing).
So I've decided that on some days I just won't wear it, but I'm afraid it will ruin the whole 50's inspired look I have going. What should I do with the rest of me to compensate for the lack of lipstick? I have no idea.

Dramatic, smokey eyes would compensate.
I use Revlon Colorstay Overtime for lipstick. It is a bit pricey, but it looks good and doesn't come off...even when I want it to. My boyfriend is even impressed with it--He knows he doesn't have to wipe off his lips or face when I kiss him.

I don't know if you have tried any of the tricks that they used in the 1940's when red lipstick was used by everyone and also was not as good quality as we have today. But what they did worked pretty well.
Chapstick first as a base (they used vaseline but chapstick works fine for me) but let it dry/soak in while you do the rest of your makeup so it is not too slick. Line your lips with lip liner and fill the whole lip in with the lip liner. Then apply the lipstick, blot it on a tissue. Apply the lipstick a second time and blot it again. Then at the end of that process just slightly dust over your lipstick with translucent powder and that will REALLY set it.

Don't use lipstick--use a lipstain. They don't come off unless you wash, scrub, and beg.

Yep, that's what that Revlon stuff I have is. It's a pain to get off...I don't wear it unless I know I'm not going to work the next day.

Yeah I was really thinking that
I mean it wouldn't be as bright as lipstick but it would still be nice

But what if I just want to give my lips a rest, without putting a bunch of make up on my eyes? would I look all boring?

No you would still look awesome.
I love real pale lips sometimes as well. My lips however are a natural dark red.

No, of course not! I think most people look better without make-up, anyway!

I hope you're right, I'd hate to look boring. It would REALLY suck, but I do agree with the natural thing.

I seen your profile picture, and you're a very pretty girl. Don't worry about make-up, you don't need it, dear =)
Not like anyone needs it...but you know what I mean.

I also really hate the 'heavy amounts of make-up' look.
As that chick from Full House said, the point of make-up is to make it look like you're not wearing any at all. AMIRITE, PEOPLE?

Yes you are, though it's hard to make red lipstick look natural even if I really tried. But you're right, for sure.

Unless it's me...LOL!
I love heavy make-up. Natural make-up looks bizarre on me, I respect anyone who can wear it.
Unfortunately for me...I was born with a wierd face.

Maybelliene Superstay. I have it in a really bright red, and it will not come off, ever. It comes with chapstick stuff, for if it's worn for a couple days, it tends to dry one's lips slightly. Don't get it where you don't want it though, I have to use makeup remover stuff to get it off.
