I swear I seriously just saw Voltaire (not the guy who wrote Candide)
Walking down west forth street, near the the intersection with LaGuardia. I was on the opposite side of the road and was thus unable to confirm the sighting, but in retrospect I feel nearly certain that I have encountered the somewhat reputable goth pundit. The aforesaid encounter was monumentally awkward given that I was wearing a cape and as a consequence felt he was judging me, but upon returning home I realized he was wearing the same shirt as he is in that wikipedia picture, and wearing the same shirt so frequently is just as embarassing as wearing a cape could ever be.
Does anyone possess any insight through which I might summarily confirm the identity- AND POSSIBLE D-LIST CELEBRITY -of the individual upon whom I happened?

Oh that's funny as hell.
Ditch the cape, man. Nah, just kidding.
You should have just started yelling out his name. YO V! V, my man! Whaddup, V?!

He's a great guy- I love his live stuff, and he's pretty cool to talk to. Was kind enough to sign Almost Human for my friend, as she couldn't make it to the gig I was at.

I have no idea where that is but is it anywhere near the School of Visual arts in New York? Because then I wouldn't be suprised since he is a professor there.

It was within walking distance. Not on 'campus' or anything, but close by.
I believe he teaches stop-motion animation?

I think that's it, yes. He mentions it in 'What is goth', in the introduction when he does a bit about himself.

Yep that explains it he's bound to be seen around his place of work.
Here is his profile on the school's website under his full name of Aurelio Voltaire Hernández under the faculty section for animation
http://www.schoolofvisualarts.edu/in...=313&FID=56770
Here is the full list of faculty for the animation department
http://www.schoolofvisualarts.edu/ug...=15&page_id=38
He might be in other departments I can't really check right now due to lag created by a rather large download I'm doing.

Should have done his dance real quick.
"Hold the bat." "Love the bat." "Throw the bat down." "Step on the bat." "Pick the bat up." " Consule the bat." "Hold the bat up again."
Funny dance.

I think it's funny that you had to clarify that is was "not the author of Candide"
I mean, REALLY...I'm pretty sure we all knew that.
