Your room

Yes, talk about that peace of space you have. Describe it, be proud of it, tell us what you do there (well, not everything you do ), how you feel when you're finally at home, after a long day of work, school or whatever, and all you wanna do is to go to your room, take a deep breath and get online on gothic.net!!

My room is pretty small and messy. my parents made it to me since the beggining of my life just to keep me away from them XD.
It's obviously my favourite part of this big and boring house... I spend somany time in my room it looks like me.... quite and lifeless.

My room is like the Easternization of the West. I have a large rug with the chinese zodiac at the bedroom door. My dressers and bookcase are wood. The vanity and dresser are both antiques. There is a more modern wooden frame with blue cushions chair and foot rest next to my twin size bed. It has shade of blue and black linen and comforters. I have matching autumn leaf brass fixtures for holding stuff and letters. On the ceiling there is a bright red runner that ties into the zodiac rug. There is also a small chandeler. All of the walls are wood, the molding is white, the ceiling is white tiles, the closet door is white. the main door is a golden laquer and the curtain are primarly orange with squares of violet, yellow and other shades to tie the room together.

Don't get me wrong though, it is cozzy. Everything is all jammed together and there is plenty of mess, because there isn't much room. Make up scattered, some old wax lips and the bookcase is just clutter.

Plain magnolia walls, ugly furniture provided by the landlord. Clothing and books scattered across the floor in a mess of velvet, satin, cotton, denim, paper, card, leather, latex and silk. Hanging from various open-air rails on one side of the room are swathes of dark red lace and shimmering black voile flocked with stars and moons in black. Covering the walls where possible are huge posters of Alphonse La Mucha's works, particularly Absinthe Robette, The Seasons, and Club Artistique et Litteraire. Also a poster of The Labyrinth, with Bowie looming overhead.
I can't put up a curtain rail because the house is badly designed, so I've instead papered over the windows with black and orange halloween pumpkin wrapping paper. Condensation means I'm going to need to change the paper soon so that the sheets on the bottom half of the windows don't end up going nasty with mildew, but it's a functional setup.

My room is plain and almost perfectly neat. Almost. About a few years back, there were papers. Always papers. Everywhere. But I cleaned up when I came back this summer from Louisiana. Now the only singular thing about it is that there are books on my bed everywhere and I have my cd collection in the in the space above the wooden frame of my bed. There is a opening on my vanity dresser to the right of my bed, that opens like a door, that has a bunch of college books from a few years back still in them. Applications for places in Florida, Cali, etc. U of Miami. Pepperdine. Different art colleges. Near my bedroom door, there are a few bags as i'm packing up. A large suitcase, a small bag with all of my cds(in a lot of cd cases, without their cases) and a bookbag. As for the books, i've got on my bed: Bounds of Justice (O'neill), Pride and Prejudice, White Knight(Dresden Files), Not Just Deserts(A republical theory of criminal justice), The Trial of Socrates(Stone), Interview with the Vampire(should be packed but i've been reading it so it's out), Zola the Debacle, and Roget's Super Thesaurus. I also have scattered around on the left side of the bed some notebooks which I often, if not daily, write in. I've been writing lyrics lately(or trying to) My bed is plain. It has a wooden frame with an opening and two sliding drawers to place things in. I have a large vanity mirror dresser thing, with a bunch of stuff cattered around(toothpaste and all that mess). My bed has black covers, sheets, and all that, except for two extra blankets I have(one I won playing bingo at open night on my college campus a year ago, the other just a pink- and very warm, blankie). I have one tall dresser. But look inside and you'll see I don't have enough clothes to cover all of this space, lol. My closet is empty. I never used it. My tv is turned off. It's never used, unless i'm watching Masterpiece Theatre, BBC News, Charlie Rose, something else PBS(I hate television) or something else that's worth watching. My floor is carpeted. The windows are covered by all of the furniture. I've got my ID, change to wash clothes, my blue wallet, and my blue and white striped teddy bear(actually it looks more like a weasel), and even a golf ball on my bed(we found them underneath the heaters when we moved in). I just found another one looking under the same heater in my room. Yeah, I guess that's it.

Wow. That was long. If I ever get to personalize my own room, I want it to be sort of like a bazaar. A bizarre mix of things from different time periods. Sort of like a "Museum of Roman- Grecian- Gothic(old and modern) -Egyptian -Victorian-Ancient Asian/Persian- and Voodoo art, sculpture, furniture, etc". There are probably more influences. But those are all I can think of right now. I love fantasy art and movies about fairies and all that but i'm not *so* into Aurthurian or Viking times and tales. So those wouldn't suit me.

Pink carpet (ugh) with white walls. I have a collage ALL over my walls. I decorate it with things I like from magazines. I also have a political wall where I put my feelings and hang things about politics and the world we live in.

Then there's the bed, which is decent size with 6 or so pillows and I have a dresser that is black and red and a black desk, an old huge sewing machine thing and two book cases. Then there's the closet which is actually a huge space in my room that is covered by two huge black curtains.

Typical student accomodation - I've been to other student places about this city, and all the UNITE properties have the exact same furniture and curtains. It's weird!

Unusually tidy, as we had a flat inspection this week, so no masses of abandoned clothes, and not too many empty bottles or cans. Few personal touches, oweing to my tenancy agreement; a few fairy lights, posters on my notice board, photos of family, small dolls etc. There's a rather nice sewing machine on my desk that I'm going to get round to using sometime. Sonic the Hedgehog bedsheets, a ratted old pink blanket I've had since toddlerdom.

My book shelf houses very few books (I didn't bring much with me when I moved from Liverpool), a few CD's, stolen hotel toiletries and my jewellery.

The floor, now that I look at it, is covered in pink feathers. My beloved boa is shedding!

I quite like my room - it's the first I've ever had to myself. I've always shared with one of my siblings. It's nice to come home after Uni or work and have a space to myself.

I have a white dresser riddled with a bit of junk. A book case with boods I hardly even touch. I usually have some clothes lying around my room, I can't stand it being spotless! On my walls, I have a couple of Green Day posters*braces for impact*, and a from first to last poster pinned up. The closets usually like my room, not spotless, not exactly messy either. The usual clothes, black pants, t-shirts, and work clothes. The wall by my room has a Football poster, which hides a hole in the wall I made. Then, I have my guitars lying around in random places. On my door, I have a mirror I look into, when practicing my German, and other things. Last I have a counter by the wall opposite to my dresser, with my radio, sound system and other things, with yet another mirror...

I plan on redcorating it one of these days.

I like my room but it is quite incomplete. As much as I consider my apartment to be home I think of it as a temporary home (even though I know that barring some major unforeseen event I will be living here for at least another year and a half) and so I really haven't put as much energy into decorating and setting up my room as I should

My room is small and boring...

-Grey carpeting.
-Black sheets, black comforter, black and white floral designed pillows.
-An orgy of pink stuffed animals on my bed.
-A solid black-out curtain thing, which blocks out any light from getting into my room (that's not me being overly gothy, there is a helicopter landing field RIGHT behind my house, with very bright lights)
-Black lacy curtains over that.
-Dark blue walls
-A cherry-wood dresser, from my great-great-grandmother in Italy.
-A touch-lamp, because the actual light in my room does not work.
-Occasionally, I find my siamese-persian mixed kittah on my bed.

My room isn't too special, but that's only because I've got a whole house spread out in so the bedroom is just a place to sleep, get dressed, and... engage in other activities.

I've got a waterbed complete with black satin sheets, an old wooden bedside table, a black leather lounge chair, a cute little fireplace, a black chinese wardrobe, and a Victorian dressing table I inherited from my great aunt. Oh and an entire floorful of junk and various electronic devices (my whole computer/speakers setup is currently on my bedroom floor).

Nothing on the walls yet, but I do plan on hanging my jolly roger up sometime.
