Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

If you count Lacuna Coil as "metal", then they're well in to that.
Agalloch - She Painted Fire Across the Skyline, is sort of love-ish.
The only one I can think of is by Dream Evil called "Love is Blind".

AC/DC's 'A Mistress for Christmas', if you want to listen to music that coincide with the holidays...

Not sure if it's your thing, but the mix-up A Perfect Circle did with The Cure's Love Song and Ozzys Diary of a Madman is an awesome, if slightly fucked up love song.

Not really metal per se, but I absolutely love Led Zeppelin's "All Of My Love".

No, dude, that's hair metal! Which isn't really metal at all! In fact, the only real metal is death and black! (I am poking fun, if anyone hasn't noticed.)

Type O Neg, damn near the entire October Rust album, but most notable "Love You to Death" and "Die With Me".
Oh, and lobsters are the most metal thing in the world.
"You mean you take these guys and throw them in boiling water and they scream and turn red and they die? That is the most metal thing I have ever heard of!"
- Pickles, "Curse of Deathklok"

There needs to be a whole compilation of the most brutal death metal bands doing covers of the poppiest love songs. That would like... make the universe implode on itself.

I'm guessing Symphonic Metal doesn't count for your purposes, or you wouldn't be asking this question. If it did, I'd say just see any album by Within Temptation, Nightwish, Midnattsol, Leaves' Eyes, Mortal Love (though they are more Gothic Metal, all they sing about is love and love lost), and Edenbridge and you'll find something you like.
Beyond that, I'm not much of a metal (acid, power, thrash, doom, black, etc) fan...

Romantic metal songs/duets are great. I'm a big fan. I haven't had the pleasure of listening to a lot of this [insert genre] type stuff, though. All of the ones I know are Gothic metal. Like Lacrimosa's "Alleine Zu Zweit"(together alone), "Ich Verlasse Heut Dein Herz" (I take leave of your heart), und du fallst, liebesspiel(loveplay), warum so tief, der morgen danach, etc Some of these are Tilo/Anne doing a duet together. Lacrimosa is a really good band to get into for this sort of stuff.

I also agree with whoever said Type of Negative. It's also more metal like you're looking for.
And if you really want to get into romance + metal, there's a really good compilation out there with Gothic lovesongs. Garrr. I can't think of the name right now. I borrowed it from a friend about two months ago. I'm hoping to burn it sometime cause it's that good. I know it has Lacuna Coil's Senaforzine on it and some other known ones. But it has quite a few unknown bands.

Edit: Sorry. I went past the five min mark. So i'm putting my corrections back in.

Like Lacrimosa's "Alleine Zu Zweit"(together alone), "Ich Verlasse Heut Dein Herz" (I take leave of your heart), und du fallst, liebesspiel(loveplay), warum so tief, der morgen danach, crucifixio, etc. Some of these are Tilo/Anne doing a duet together. Lacrimosa is a really good band to get into for this sort of stuff. But like I said, it's Gothic metal.
I'm not sure if there are any metal metal bands that speak of real love(including sex, since it can go along with real love. Lust for the person you love.) and not an aggressive form of "love". Except maybe Venom. Well, actually, no, that's not really love. It's just speaking about someone's "badass metal chick", really. That's a stumper. Well, there is Anathema. There are a lot of doom metal bands that talk about love.

SikTh - Summer Rain
SikTh - In This Light
SikTh - Each Other And Ourselves
SikTh is the only band you will ever need.

That would be amazing, amazingly funny, and amazingly bad all at the same time.

Umm...
How about Love You To Death by Kamelot?
It reminds me of Romeo & Juliet.
