First album/CD/cassette that you ever bought

Got this idea from deathrock.com

What was your first album/CD/cassette that you ever bought (allowances count) and would you also listen to that album today?

For me, mine was the first Gorillaz album from all the way in 2001. Funny story how this album met it's end: my mom at the time didn't "get" what they were all about and was kind of disturbed by some of Jamie Hewlett's artwork on the CD. Coupled with the fact that I straight up lied about it being Edited (which it wasn't), she snapped it in four equal corners in front of my face and taped it to my bedroom mirror as part of my punishment.

Seven years later, it's still there. I have to take a picture of it sometime just so you all can get a laugh out of it.

And yes, I still do listen to it. Aside from "Clint Eastwood", I listen to "Double Bass", "Left-Hand Suzuki Method", "Dracula", "Re-Hash", and "Tomorrow Comes Today" more than I did probably when I first bought it (though I do remember digging "Dracula" and "Tomorrow Comes Today" a lot more back then for a now obvious reason now ). In 2005, since I was old enough to get away with my music purchases, I bought a second one around the same time that Demon Days came out.

first album - kiss - alive 2 - truthly, i didn't buy it. it was a gift from my uncle when i was like 5 or so.

first tape - motley crue - theater of pain - the first tape i ever bought, only for home sweet home, the song that played during my first make out session

first cd - megadeth - hangar 18? can't remember if that was the name of the album, i listened to it a couple times, then it became a beer coaster.

would i listen to them today? doubt it. maybe a song or two from the kiss album, or a song or two from the motley crue album. megadeth on the other hand, no. not at all.

now, i've bought I Don't Want To Grow Up from The Descendents at least a dozen times. i'll listen to that album til the day i die.

The first album I bought was "Sweet Little Witches" by Switchblade Symphony. I listened to that a LOT back then, which was only a couple of years ago. I still listen to it occasionally, but I've heard it so much it's starting to lose its former greatness.

Queen of the Damned--the score album. It was cheap. I listen to it with some frequency.

First tape? Probably Hansen or The Spice Girls
First cd? My first one ever was a Chinese Bamboo Flute cd. The first one I bought was probably a Beck one...maybe Mutations?

Sacrilage! That is the Rust in Peace record and it surely does not deserve to be just a beer coaster.

(also one of my first CD's, not the first though.)

I don't think I've ever bought a tape. My first CD was Sixteen Stone by Bush.

I think the first tape I bought (with music, mind. I bought them for my C64 long before that) was the soundtrack to Ghostbusters, oddly enough.

American Idiot Green Day.

It was well worth it to, IMO.

My 1st CD was actually a recording of a college chorus from waaaay back in the EARLY 90s (1993). I still have it somewhere (I think) because there were decent choral songs on there. Yeah, I would definitely still listen to it...

My 2nd CD, on the other hand, I would NEVER listen to again... Backstreet Boys (Hey, at least I'm honest)... Broke the CD because, after listening to it twice, I found that I hated them, and moved to another genre that WASN'T pop.

OK Computer by Radiohead.
Amazing record. It totally spoiled me in that I couldn't help but compare it with every other album to which I subsequently listened, and I therefore developed a pretty uncompromisingly rigid standard in regard to what I considered good music. I still love the CD, and the band remains one of my favorites.

Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell in 1979, followed by Adam And The Ants Kings Of The Wild Frontier, around about 81.

First tape: Louis Armstrong, way back when I was 7 or 8.

First CD: Nevermind the Bollocks: Here's THE SEX PISTOLS and The Clash by THE CLASH (I bought them at the same time)
My first introduction to punk, and it set me off on the path that leads to the me of today.

I can't rememeber my first tape, but my first CD purchase was Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park.........thankfully that madness didn't last long and I developed a taste in music and bought some much better cds

...although I sneak in a quick listen to Linkin Park every now and then :S
