About Role Playing.

There's no role playing threads here, are there?
It may not be the most mature way to pass the time, but I think role playing is a hoot. That's what I used to use gaia for, anyway.

Anyone here like RPing as well?
There should be a thread for that, I think.

But, maybe I'm just blowing worthless steam. I think it's fun to do, at least.

Any particular games or stories you had in mind? Myself and Meth were discussing a V:tM style game thread at one point, though we haven't actually gotten around to making it. Anyone else up for that?

To both:

I like the vampire scene, myself.
I'm most used to the free-form vampire mansions where you come and go as you please, but I also love a good solid storyline. Some kind of war between various night-creatures would be cool.

What's V: tM?
*ignorant*

There is always something very sexy about the vampire scene, alot of people get carried away in it. I guess thats the fun part though

V:tM is excellently put together, I think that a game of that style would be brilliant, Delkaetre, but how do you plan on going about it?

I haven't done any role playing since my early teenage years (scary times!), when my best friend and little-all me loved to rehearse pick up lines and other things on eachoter (We don't do those things no more, mums, promise!)
This sounds like fun, but somebody should probably come up with a loose script and a basic set of rules.

I'm not so sure about rules, either.
There's usually no godmodding, in the kind I did.

i would have to agree there is always something very sexy about vampires and that style would be amazing if it were put together right.
i think that if there were ever a place for v: tm it would be here.
great idea!
i cant wait!
about the rules issue i dont think that any would be needed.
if somebody did or said something wrong or offensive then im sure people will gratful point it out and correct them so no rules need for now.

I used to love to roleplay on Neopets, but now, eh, blah.
But I would still do it though in my spare time.

No way. ._.
It must have evolved.
I used gaia.
Which is like neopets without animals.

Vampire role plays just don't do it for me anymore, maybe it's because the genre as a whole has been butchered by a lot of role players or maybe because said role players just kinda suck at role playing.

Role playing is only good if the people can actually role play!
Vampires would do it for anybody, you just need the right mix

So is anyone going to get this ball rolling?

I was considering having a basic freeform game with two threads
One thread to be the character intro- OOC you post your characters details using the VtM ruleset to make sure that all characters have roughly the same power levels and prevent people creating Immortal Flame Retardant DayWalkers Who Never Run Out Of Blood Even If They Get Stabbed Lots and other such broken things. This thread would serve as a character intro thread and also offer a thread to raise any issues and thus prevent the game getting dragged OOC and into any bickering. Being an online RP, there'll be bickering- so we'll just keep it off the main thread.
The other thread will be the actual gaming thread, and I was considering running it in a mansion style, with players acting as their own characters and interacting amongst each other. I would like to see one or two people as GM, though, as they could introduce outside characters, devise some plot, and offer backdrop for the story. This would not be a railroading compaign, and if players would rather talk over a nice freshly dead virgin rather than go out and get involved in the inter-clan politics, they can.
Example- fiends is a 10th gen Gangrel, and thus isn't overly powerful (though still godlike compared to a human). Methadrine is GMing, and thus plays a 4th gen Tzimisce, the Prince of the city the game's set in. As a result, Meth may introduce new characters and request players for certain tasks, but as long as they're not plotting too much then the players may mostly do as they like. Perhaps Meth has introduced some worrying stranger that fiends fears may be a spy for some werewolves. fiends may go and talk to the 'spy', may dig around to find out info about the 'spy', or may ignore the 'spy' entirely and concentrate on the joy of hunting for meals in dodgy clubs.

If this sounds acceptable, let me know. I'm not trying to usurp Ravenmother, and think it'd be pretty cool if we had a couple of RP threads going so that people who aren't inclined towards fangs can get their fill of RPing in some other system.

That sounds like so much fun! I use to RP with my friend in middle school, but I fell out of it, mainly because everyone else did too. I would definitely join.

It should also be wise to state what edition of <insert P&P RPG name here> that's in use since the rules and settings could change quite drastically from one edition to another. (first in mind comes V:tM that just went bonkers with the new WoD setting or "reboot" as I see it.. I don't like it. *hugs his 2'nd Edition V:tM rulebook*)

I just prefer good old 'Masquerade'. 'Requiem' can go jump off a very tall thing in the direction of a selection of very pointy, sharp things.

Have you guys given requiem a legitimate chance? If so, why don't you like it? I prefer it to Masquerade by a substantial margin.
