ugh, brown

How to wear brown, is my question? My brother got me this really great shirt with a dead tree design with skulls hanging on the branches for christmas...but it is brown. And I really don't like brown. How can I wear this in a way that is not so intolerable on my part (as silly as that sounds)?

that sounds like an awesome shirt. What shade of brown is it?

I guess it's a difficult question to answer without knowing your taste. it would probably go well with another neutral shade, such as charcoal, dark denim, olive green, or of course, black.

or maybe layer it over fishnet or a long-sleeved black shirt?

Match it with brown eyeshadow :]

Faded blacks will go well too.

Also brass chains.

As a friend once told me, steampunks are just brown goths.

Find yourself a vest to wear over it and some ox blood colored pants.

Keep the black to a minimum. In fact, try going with charcoal, gray, gunmetal, and deep deep greens such as absinthe and forest.

I agree with Kontan.

Don't forget the brass goggles and ditch the car for a penny farthing.

Steampunk FTW ^_^

Can't you just wear blue jeans?

I mean, slash them up or something if you want to make them look Gothier, but I mean, don't you get a little tired of all Goth no play? Variety is the spice of life, and life should be spicy.

Blue jeans are lame. I dunno about you, but I'd rather be decked out in khaki pants before ever wearing blue jeans.

Blue jeans... plain as white bread.

I wore blue jeans today, but I also wore a spiderweb skirt over it, pinned up at one hip.... Generally I rather dislike wearing jeans, but I got these for Christmas, and seeing as I don't want to hurt the relative's feelings, I feel I must wear them at least every once in a while

I have a pair of blue jeans with black lacing up the one side My fave pair.

The shirt actually looked okay with my jeans and black boots and black hoodie. It is an olive brown and it isn't that bad now that I tried it on.

I *heart* my jeans but most of them have a ton of holes cuz I have had them for quite a few years (climbing trees really seems to do them in) so to spice them up a bit I wear fun leggings or fishnets underneath

As for the brown you can wear that with just about anything (it is a nutral color after all).

Blue jeans plain as white bread and lame?! I hardly think so. How many pairs of khaki slacks can you modify and have them looking even better than before you started with them? And they’re twice as comfortable once you’ve broke them in. Khaki slacks in this area tend to scream conservative and plain as white bread. I guess to each his own. *shrugs*

I'm from the south, Happy Cat. Blue Jeans = Cowboy redneck good ol' boy. Just as bad.

Blue jeans are LAME. Moreso, where I'm from, they're usually a reflection of those who are unimaginative in style.

Granted, I've seen some people who rocked out blue denim quite well, but it was very very very rare.

I don't like blue jeans, I never have. They just don't look right on me.

Black jeans are nice though. I need to buy some more, mine have broken.
