Is it just me or....

Is it just me or are some or do some of the older bands have terrible vocals. Im a fan of sisters of mercy, bauhaus, switchblade symphony and others but then i hear other things like alien sex fiend and it seems to be a major turn off with this strange voice popular in the 80s or too mellow.

Hm, maybe it's just you. I like their voices.
Well, I don't like Alien Sex Fiend, but I do like Bauhaus and Sister's of Mercy.

Oh, lol, Do you like Joy Division? I tried to listen to their music... but it's too depressing. >_>
Then I tried Dead Can Dead... not exactly my style, lol.
I've never heard of 69 Eyes, though. I'll have to look them up. ^^

Yes, lol, I looked up Dead Can Dance on You Tube and was a bit disappointed. However, I do love Joy Division's song Love Will Tear Us Apart. I listened to two of they're other songs and nearly cried. Haha

I like joy division now. Youtube is my best friend i seem to find most songs that arent too old. Songs from like Bauhaus just suck in quality on youtube you are better off using Itunes to get sample clips since people on youtube get live recordings or it sounds like they recorded it in a room that echos

Dead Can Dance is kind of an acquired taste. There's really not a song that you can listen to and really understand them, you have to listen to an entire album. I have "Within the Realm of a Dying Sun" and it leaves me speechless every time.

gothic rock bands commonly have unique vocals, that aren't really "singing", but rather.. just supplying an interesting form of vocals.

well, I listen to various types of rock and dance. Rock more than anything. There are also trace amounts of other types of music. But you know, I've recently developed a taste for 80's gothic rock... and classic rock in general ^^

There's nothing to be guilty about. Most people on this board would agree that he's amazing and influential to many goth rock bands (Bauhaus covered Ziggy Stardust).

Nik Fiend... not a good singer?!
