Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Little Known but Awesome Bands
In the Gothic World of Music a lot of the best bands never go mainstream, so having a reference thread for everyone would be great. Post your local and known bands on this thread so everyone's CD collection gets better.
I know of tons great bands that don't even have a video. You could use my myspace as a reference, but this would be even Better!

Ego Likeness. I'm not sure if many people here have heard of them, but they're good and not widely known. At least, I don't think they are.

Kontan! I just noticed your avatar! That is so awesome. While we're on the subject of Address Unknown, our myspace is http://myspace.com/addressunknown23
In terms of other obscure but great bands, I'd recommend Ikon, The Garden of Delight, and Bitter Grace.

The only two I've heard that I'm really impressed with are:
Voices of Masada - Classic Gothic Rock
Opened Paradise - Highly Recommended for fans of Fields of The Nephilim & Nosferatu.

I've been listening to a lot of new goth bands lately, but only Brotherhood of Pagans and Passion Play stand out for me, both of which are fucking excellent. Every track on Passion Play's "Stress Fractures", and Brotherhood of Pagans' "Tales of Vampires" is impressive. I highly recommend both.
I've also been getting into more post-punk recently, and absolutely LOVE Television's "Marquee Moon", along with Lou Reed's "Transformer" and Iggy Pop's "Lust For Life".

Neva and Dementia 99 come to mind.
Any fan of Rozz Williams and Chrisitan Death MUST listen to Dementia 99's album "Waiting for Valor". There will be laughter.

Because they're local, I'll mention the Scooterz.
They have a cover of Just Like Heaven by The Cure, and the singer's favorite band is Bauhaus, so even though they're happy punk, they have gothic influences.

Johnny Hollow.

I like their carabet sounds and simplistic cello movements. Also, their score peices are great as well. Thye have a fun game to play to their music on their website called Scuttle Bug. You should play it if you ever get bored.
