Hey now, that's not fair to DM, especially since it and I share the same initials... can't you use the extra rocket fuel you'd have used for them and instead send Marilyn that much farther away?

A plain good old opinion.

I can't tell just one. I'd have to list them but I don't want to.

Bauhaus is one of them of course

Ever? There is no favorite band Ever. Taste changes over time. Right now it's Anorexia Nervosa I adore, but it might be some other band in a few years...

erm, my favourite genres are Goth, Industrial, Punk and Electro (I use this term to include Breakcore, IDM, Drum 'n' Bass, [some]Gabba, Jungle, etc). I also listen to a bit of Hip-Hop, Rap, Reggae.....

In fact, I listen to pretty much anything except crap electronic music (Psytrance, Techno, Acid, House etc), Metal (although, there are a couple of exceptions) and nu-Metal

hmmm, seem to have missed my 5 minute window: I forgot to mention that the question of 'best band ever' is asinine and is entirely down to taste (or lack there of *cough*GreenDay*cough*).

However, my favourite band of all time is Joy Division, but my other favourites chage more often than the wind

Hahaha.

People who include Ministry and KoRN in the same sentence should be crucified. Including me for just committing such sacrilege. Bands like Slipknot and Korn take everything that Throbbing Gristle, Skinny Puppy, and Ministry worked so hard to create. NIN is what industrial should be like, Slipknot and KoRN take industrial, fuck it, make it mainstream, and turn it into nu metal.

Anyway best band ever? In my opinion now, probably Ben Folds, Misfits, or NOFX. Used to be Rancid by far. It's all a matter of taste. For continual just good fucking music and originality I'd have to go with NOFX for being still together and making good shit. Ever, maybe The Dead Milkmen for originality and long lasting talent. Sublime were short lived but brilliant.

[quote=pitseleh]whoa, people. the question of BEST BAND EVER pops up

"...without joy division, the face of modern music would not
be the same at all. almost every musician making dark music
today and throughout the 80's has been influenced by them
one way or another. "

Chills...I agree with this statement [about Joy Division and Curtis' vocals etc.] - and not to many people around me musically have ever heard them...I find this very pitiful

Well they were the best band ever until Euronymous was murdered. But all though their newer stuff is shit their old material makes up for it.

Well Varg was only in MayheM briefly, due the Euronymous killing. Even the one album he did countributed to (De mysteriis dom sathanas) didn't really count for him being a member, because Hellhammer's bass tracks were recorded over Varg's.

Korn ROTFLMAO!!!!

Hands down, the best goth/darkwave band today would have to be the cruxshadows.
And it would appear that I am not alone in this sentiment, as they were listed as the #5 goth band ever, as announced at the 2005 Wave Gotik Treffen. Which for those of you who are uninformed, is the largest gothic gathering in the world, held in Germany. Yes, #1 was The Cure. But, #6 was Sisters, #7 VNV Nation, #8 London After Midnight, and #9 Wolfsheim.

But I digress, following The Cuxshadows (in my list of fav bands) are The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, Lacuna Coil, VNV Nation, and Jack Off Jill to name a few.
