Is Change a Good Thing?

It's like the song "Changes" by David Bowie. "Time may change me, but I can't trace time." Seems like there is always something on the next horizon, but with the regret that the world is no longer what it had been before.

Can't spend all the time dwelling in the past; however, are there some things you used to do or people you once knew that you miss (that are not dead)?

Every decent person I have ever met I think about from time to time. I think it's good to remember the good times that you had with everybody. The best thing about it though, is when you see someone you haven't seen for ages and you catch up over a drink or two.

I miss MedicGirl ... her work stories were the best!

Change is good. Learning new things and changing your routines staves off Alzheimer's and senility. It's just usually not easy.

But I never want to be an old dog that can't learn new tricks.

There are tons of people that I miss.

It is a good thing to change if you feel that it is going to help you out in some way. I have completely left the goth subculture because I felt like it was time for me to leave it. I have nothing in common with most of the people in it these days so moving on is something that I have to do. It hasn't been easy because I have been it for so long, but being in it was making me into somebody that I didn't like.

I have come to accept changes as they can't be avoided. Sometimes things change for the good and sometimes the bad. Then again at other times they both balance each other out. But you have to accept it, however the changes are made.

I suppose right now I could say it is both good and bad. While I am glad of changes I also dislike the changes that have been made. However it can't be so bad nor can I say it is THAT bad, nothing that can't be worked with. And regardless of what awaits at the end of the line (good bad or both)- you have to swallow the pill. Just try to make the best out of the change and adapt to survive.

Afterall Bob Dylan said.....

"Oh the times they are a-changin'"

I really like changes that you are aware of before they happen. I believe things that are often changed make you stronger, higher your self esteem, and prepares you to face any conflict one encounters in the future. But changes that occur quickly and without past notice are simply crushing and their results are simply the opposite of the ones I just listed. These changes increase your fear, and make you feel worthless and unable to control your life. Hence, devastating.

I miss how much time I used to spend outside... The climate in this country is generally atrocious... lots of rain and overcast skies... I miss being out in the worst of weather, wandering over austere bogs, clambering up the sides of bare-pinnacled hills. But what I miss most of all is the breadth of life that my parents gave me.

I used to love change. I chased after it. I left home to live in a foreign country when I was 20.
A year or two ago things turned against me and I became a terrified of change. As Queenofdarkness said, these changes were sudden and therefore crushing.
But slowly, and unsteadily, I am crawling back up to a place where I can love change again.
Change is good because it forces us to develop and grow and experience all of the facets of our personality. If we discover more about ourselves we might become more open-minded towards others apparent weaknesses.

Change is either Chaos or Order. Time is the tracks change rides while moving us either destiny or to a uncentrain future. It might be both actually.

...

So, the riders on these tracks change cars, or the cars on these tracks change riders, or the riders are on the tracks but change tracks themselves, and in any event the tracks terminate at a destiny or an uncertain future, but of course one's destiny IS an uncertain future, and so frankly IS both... this kind of hurts my head.
