Your point? I write words with British spellings, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. It's English, regardless. Location shouldn't limit one's self to specific uses.

It’s really disheartening when you try your best to use correct grammar speak properly and some pretentious so and so trips you up on it. I have been flamed on numerous occasions (not on this site). I can not help the fact that I did not get a decent education until I was ten years old. My father was in the army and thus I missed out on those vital years.

I both speak and write English by first thinking in Spanish what I'm about to say and then translating it to English. This is why, when speaking, I give momentary random pauses when talking, as I'm thinking how to best translate what I am trying to say.
Anyway, the phrase in Spanish is "combatir fuego con fuego" which obviously translates to "combat fire with fire".
