Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

New DeathRock Bands
...Sorry, if this has been posted before. I did a search and did find some data on the Drop Dead Festival, but more to the point.
With the revival of deathrock are there many new bands, or one's you could recommend? I found one band called La Peste Negra. They've got potential, but I think the vocals need time to settle themselves.
So, in any case, are there any new deathrock bands that anyone is partial to?

Cinema Strange are new-er and I'm in love with them. The Deadfly Ensemble isn't exactly deathrock, but most fans of deathrock I've spoken with enjoy them. I havn't really been listening to any new deathrock. I should probably get on that. Hahaha.

Yes, I finally found that there is an actual deathrock.com via one of our 'happy' member's profiles. It really made my day.

Penis Flytrap, Antiworld, Lugosi's Morphine, 34 Vampires, Texas Vamps... Drop Dead Magazine's an excellent source for new deathrock groups, though. That's where I found most of these.

I second the recommendation for Cinema Strange. They're fantastic and original, which is a great thing for a new band in an old genre to be.

A few days ago I discovered ze most awesome band. They're a fairly unknown band called Fear Cult. Sheer brilliance though.
You can hear some of their music on their MySpace. 'If You're Watching' is my favourite song at the moment and I'm planning to get their album at some point.

I agree wholeheartedly about Fear Cult and Cinema Strange. All Gone Dead are pretty good, too. Very political, but very catchy (and very hot).

Along with All Gone Dead, there's Tragic Black, although they're going gradually from deathrock to darkwave.
I also reccomend Bloody Dead and Sexy (which has become a favorite of mine) and Voodoo Church.
By the way, did you know that in the 90's, London After Midnight considered themselves deathrock, but after they headlined over Shadow Project, deathrock fans began to hate them, and LAM cut all ties with the deathrock style.
Damn you dogmatic deathrockers! If London After Midnight is better than Shadow Project, leave it be! ┬_┬

Heh, never thought to look in the magazine section. I usually don't browse through them so much, but it might be worth it. Lots of bands to look into and Penis Flytrap I've heard of, but haven't listend to yet. It's nice to see I've got such a wide selection.

It once was, and still would be, if it weren't because people began to say it isn't. ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.png)
It's one of those situations where someone has won the hearts of people for being #1, that people will not allow anyone taking up that place, regardless of effort.

This band was mostly around in the 90's and recently broke up, but the Vanishing are an awesome new-ish deathrock band.

The Last Days of Jesus are a progressive deathrock band that has been around since the 90s. They're great.
The Phatom Limbs are also great, and of course Cinema Strange.
