Jesus Christ, Superstar

This is NOT a debatable topic about Christianity.

Has anyone seen the film/theatre show "Jesus Christ, Superstar?" I saw it some time ago several years back when I first got into theatre, but it didn't stick, and I saw it again just the other day and was amazed by how good it was.

The film was made in 1973 and I must say it is one of the most interesting musicals (though the technical term is Rock Opera) I've ever seen. Carl Anderson does an absolutely heavenly (pun intended) job as his portrayal of Judas, and Ted Neeley holds his own as Jesus as well.

"Superstar" is about the final weeks of the life of Jesus Christ, though it seems to be mostly from Judas' point of view, who is not portrayed as a villain, but an unsure compatriot to Jesus, whom try as he might, can only see his friend as a man with great ideals, not the son of God. One thing leads to another, and Judas' commits an act he never wanted to, but felt he had to.

Very, very good in my opinion. Well, better than "Tommy," anyway. Smiley face.

Yep, Jesus Christ. Superstar is really good, the songs are great and the ending is amazing. Its my favourite musical/rock opera after Rocky Horror.

I bought the two record vinyl album when it first came out (after watching the movie), wish I had kept it (gave it to a girlfriend), but I now own the CD set of the soundtrack. Amazing music. Such emotion, such power and melody, it is a one of a kind movie and musical journey that never grows old for me.
A Jesus that sings to rock and roll: brilliant idea! I strongly recommend watching it if you haven't already.

My school did a version for this, and as is inevitable with school productions, more women tried out than men. Consequently, they cast Herod as a female.

Jesus Christ Superstar is, probably, my favourite "musical" of all times. It has brilliant music, a great cast (I bought the movie just recently, old but great), and interesting views of the last days of Jesus. I absolutely recommend it.

Better than Tommy? Impossible, I say, impossible! Who can resist Roger Daltrey's baby blues?

Actually, it could be better... I've never actually seen JCS. I've played some of the music in community band, though, and it was good.
