Greatings and salutations

Hello
I'm James and stumbled across this froum while looking (suprise suprise) for a gothic forum (shock, horror, indignant glares). Im 13 and started listening to metal (and most other rock music) when I was about 11. I started because everyone else in my class at my new senior school was listening to the tastless mutterings of 50 cent and being a person who is intelligent and longs for something more than "I am a pimp and I smoke weed and I have sex like all the time because I am a gangsta Blep!". SO I found the 6-7 alternatives in my school and tried out that.. I loved it! I was really afraid to admit it at first because my parents listened to led zepplin and queen and before so had I (I still do) and thought my parents might not let me listen to the kind of thing I was but my folks are fine with it! They let me dye my hair black and paint my nails and don't make many comments other than the odd joke about wether I need any eyeshadow (hmmm very funny...)

So now I've bored you half to death with my life story, Hi! I really like it here and hope you like me.

Welcome. You're not bad; although I don't generally like metal, so I'll have to teach you some good music.

Ack! Those bands were like laser beams to my head (except for Theatre of Tragedy, I can accept that one; oh, and Zeppelin, I have to respect Led)
But anyway, look for some songs of The Cruxshadows and Mindless Self-Indulgence; I believe you'll like them.

Bauhaus
Souxsie and the Banshees
Alien Sex Fiend
Christian Death
Specimen
Cruxshadows
Carfax Abbey
Skinny Puppy
Panzer AG
Voltaire
CombiChrist
Deadsy (yeah, you wanna make something of it??)
Razed in Black
Black Tape for a Blue Girl
QNTAL
Shriekback

Give those a try if you're looking for gothy music. I'm sure there's some here that can offer more obscure bands for you. These are fairly common knowledge by now I'm sure.

It warms my heart to see a youngster willing to learn. Hopefully you will find the dark aesthetic to your liking. Though you weren't too far off to begin with. I would say you're off to an interesting start.

Don't forget Dead Can Dance. Start with the two CD Wake album.
I am partial to Anywhere out of the world ( track 2 on the first CD) and Rakim (Track 4 on the 2nd CD).

Welcome.

And Cinema Strange, or the equally spine-shivering The Deadfly Ensemble, both with Lucas Lanthier as singer.

13 year olds, lyk, can't be gawth. :P

It's the people who listen to Led-Zep that would let you listen to metal. If not for them, there would be no Lamb of God.
