Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Theatre of Hate
I didn't even have to search to know that this site lacked a Theatre of Hate thread. Again, I know I can't be the only one on here who likes them. They are completely over looked as an early leader in the post-punk/goth rock genre. They're very unique as well having a permenant saxaphone player as well as Kirk Brandon's epic lung capacity, being able to hold out notes for longer than anyone I've ever heard. My favorite songs by them would have to be 'Do You Believe in the Westworld', 'Children of the Damned', 'Propaganda', and 'Black Madonna'. If you've never heard them (and actually listen to goth rock) I recomend them highly.

Well, I've heard of them. Expect no less from Gnet's resident deathrock king! In fact, I have a few of their songs on PC right now. "Do You Believe in the Westworld", "Original Sin", and something else I can't recall at the moment.

Oh dang, I knew that I recognized the song "Do You Believe in the Westworld," but I didn't realize I actually have some Theatre of Hate songs on my computer. I should go through my vast "Unsorted" file more often. . .

I'm lacking in knowledge about them.
Though I have heard their song Original Sin, and I love that song.

Theatre of Hate is awesome. And damnit... listening to it now I definitely know what you mean about Kirk Brandon's lung capacity.
The Black Madonna is one of my favourites, but I really love the saxophone-dominated Overture. It's such a beautiful moment of serenity amidst all that heavy-beated deathrocky goodness.

Not a problem. This site needs more threads about good, over looked bands and I will continue to make them... unless Draconysius beats me to them. Hahaha.

If you havn't heard 'Legion' or 'The Hop' by them yet, you're missing out. Download them. Or be cool and buy the CD.

Digging theatre of hate... Just started listening. Going to have see if they have anything on the bloody Ipod store, being that I'm trying to limit the amount of stuff I have to take home. ...Ipod store, convienent but ultimately unsatisfying.

Awesome. You can never have too much ToH. Hahaha. If you can, I recomend getting their 'Best of' album. I can listen to the whole thing (both disks) without having to skip a song.

Well, I DON'T believe in the frickin' westworld. I guess I'm just a damned Liberal.
I've really REALLY gotten into theatre of hate since way back when. "Westworld" is one of my favorite gothic rock albums of all time now. I just can't seem to find any more albums by them. Little help?

Yeah I know. We have a song like that. Anyone who has a terribly bad and steriotypical alias dedicated to a certain night inside of a certain building deserves nothing more than to get made fun of. To be honest I don't even like "Klub Kids", but I like its message. Haha, losers.

I've only heard the song Original Sin, it's terrific. I'll check out some of the songs mentioned in this thread.
