Suzanne

Hello, my name is Suzanne and I'm a 17 year-old female from the Southern U.S. (though thankfully I lack the accent or prejudices so prevalent here).
I'm about 5'7 with dark brown/black-when-I-dye-it hair and dark brown eyes, fair skin, thin, but not athletic.

I hope this isn't too much of a cookie-cutter introduction, so bear with me.
Also, I didn't realize introduction threads were so well-responded to on this site so I apologize for not posting one previously.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm a high school student at an ex-military (non-denominational, thankfully) private school. My favorite things to dabble in are filming/video editing as well as photography. For fun I play video games or read or sew.

2. Where are you from?
Born in Long Beach, CA, but spent most of my childhood in Houston, Denver, and Venezuela.

3. Who is your favorite author?
I have a few...Madeleine L'Engle, Poe, Jane Austen, the Brontë sisters, and Oscar Wilde

4. What are your favorite films?
Edward Scissorhands, The Fellowship of the Ring, Battle Royale, Run Lola Run, V for Vendetta

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
Depending on the groom's tastes, probably classical/baroque.
Although during the reception I'd love to have some insanity as far as dance music goes, unless it's very formal.

6. At your funeral?
Something traditional, probably. I've never really thought about it, though.

7. How do you want to die?
Quickly. I don't want myself or others to dwell on my impending death.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Oh, it doesn't matter, I'll be dead anyway.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I have this black dress that looks like something from the 40s or 50s that I absolutely love to wear. There's something about a black dress that makes a woman feel empowered.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
Imagination without bounds, let's-pretend ______ games.

11. What's your favorite band?
Loaded question, especially on this website.
I don't have just one, though.
Rasputina, Malice Mizer, The Cure, The Dresden Dolls, Straylight Run, A Perfect Circle, Panic! at the Disco, Incubus, and Frank Sinatra

12. What kind of education do you have? What will be your major?
I'm currently at the end of my Junior year in high school. In college I'll either go into a pharmacy program or something regarding computer science. I'm not really sure what I want to do yet.

13. Why did you join?
To communicate with people who share similar tastes and to stay up-to-date on subjects that interest me but not necessarily 'the mainstream'. Also, this seems like a good place to share ideas and resources. I've already found quite a few lovely online stores.

Thank you for reading.

Welcome. I like your music and movie tastes.
And go for the pharmacy work, it has a brighter future than computer work. You can pick where you want to work and live, and the pay is better.
A lot of computer jobs are getting outsourced these days, but pharmacists will always be needed in every town that has prescriptions written.

Thank you, I'm glad to see shared interests.

I hear that about pharmacy a lot, and that's one reason I'm seriously considering it as a career. There's a shortage of them where I live and I could make a good living on my own if I go that path.
I can easily see myself struggling for work if I chose the computer industry.

Technically, that's prejudiced in itself.
Anyway, welcome to Gnet.
Stay around, and mention if you ever visit west Texas.

Jillian, wouldn't that be a case of the lesser evils?

I think I'd rather claim I don't fit the southern stereotype than to reinforce it.

Welcome, missy.

It's really fun to imagine you do.

Hello young one. Actually, you may be older than me. Nevermind that. I like the movie and music tastes. Does your avatar come from the cover for the book Twilight ?

Hehehe, southern accents.. I break into a southern accent randomly for fun all of the time (though I couldn't imagine talking like that all of the time).
Anywho, welcome..

I never expected this many responses! Thank you.

Godslayer-Jillian: Agreed, that was fairly hypocritical of me. However, I couldn't have responded better than KontanKarite did.
I lived on the North side of Houston for eight years so that's the only place I visit in Texas, sorry.

Dancing_in_rain: Yes, I love Twilight! Have you read it and New Moon? I didn't like New Moon nearly as much, although I don't think Meyer wanted readers to enjoy it the same.
