Popping my cherry...

Hey, I've been lurking here and everyone seems so friendly -- or not actually vicious -- that I thought I'd introduce mysef...so here goes.

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job) I'm a stay-at-home mom to three little goblins. I also read, sew, craft, make jewelry and waste time on the computer.

2. Where are you from? Way too sunny Southern California

3. Who is your favorite author? Depends on my mood. Right now I'm on an urban fantasy kick so Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, Laurell Hamilton, and so on.

4. What are your favorite films? Fight Club, Secretary, Labyrinth, Serenity

5. What music do you want played at your wedding? My husband picked it out -- mostly classical

6. At your funeral? Something inappropriately cheery, like Enjoy Yourself, It's Later than You Think

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die? In a shocking and horrific yet heroic way that ends up with a church packed with mourners and an eulogy that goes on for days. I move myself to tears thinking of it sometimes, haha.

8. What kind of casket would you want? I want to be cremated and have my ashes sprinkled over something. If it's left up to my kids, they'd probably knock my urn over somewhere or feed me to the dog.

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit? One of my goth skirts (I make my own skirts) with a white or black wife beater, black hoodie, black knee socks and Doc Marten boots.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid? Having what seemed like unlimited free time.

11. What's your favorite band? Uh.....see my user name? I don't have one. I will admit to liking the Cramps, but mostly because I think their lyrics are funny.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major? I have a BA in English. I have done nothing useful with it.

13. Why did you join? I'm lost in suburbia and wanted to talk with other people who have the same interests and tastes I do

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender? I think it's obvious, but I'm a girl.

Yes, yes. I too want to be creamated (sic). I want my ashes to be put in a cake and for my descendants to each partake of my mortal remains so that I may live forever in them.

Another option is to have the carbon extracted from my ashes, so they may be turned to diamonds and set in rings which my direct descendants are to wear at all times.

Well, Keith Richards claims to have snorted his dad's ashes, so that's one way to go about it. Interesting ideas, all.

I wouldn't want to be snorted. I think it sounds such a crass way to be consumed. Through a syringe may be okay, but I think having my ashes baked in a cake is good enough for me.

Hmmm... sounds intriguing. Do tell, what does bein rubbed into the gums have to offer? It sounds like a nice way of cleaning your teeth.

Oh...another person who is deaf. How delightful. I'm actually not deaf per se but I do have extremely selective hearing. Welcome my dear.

Welcome here. Just wanderinb, but are your kids gothic? You should introduce them into the culture, if you haven`t already. I would have been glad to know the gothic culture when I was a child.

I'm neither introducing nor hiding the culture. I want them to feel free to find their own niche. Right now, they see me wearing skulls and they say, "Mommy, do you like pirates?" And I tell them, yes indeed, but I don't really go into it at length. I have the same rules about culture that I do about sports -- if they want to wear all black or listen to goth music, they have to ask first. I won't impose my own preferences on them. But if they do ask, I'll be openminded as to allowing them to try some things.
