Fake. They build up tension with the discussion first, "what's that?!" etc, then abandoned houses yadda yadda... and a bloody punchline in the end.

My boyfriend said it was probably great acting, but if you could find other information on that whole thing besides the video then maybe it's real.

Yeah, that's kind of what gave it away.
With the photo and video editing software that exists today, I don't think there's any way to prove the existence of ghosts, without seeing them with your own eyes. And even then, there's theatrics...
It was cool, though.

This is fake. If the car did crash and the two people died, and David can barely explain anything, how did the videotape survive? And also, who films someone while driving?

Those are the worst excuses I've ever heard. Camcorders are a little tougher than people, for one, and on top of that all you need is the data, be it a data disk, tape or otherwise. And a lot of people film others while the other is driving.

I skipped through all the talking until they picked up the girl, I had a feeling she was going to be the "ghost." I had a feeling it might have been fake, but I don't know shit about making movies and stuff so I didn't really know.

Fake, it's too acted out, I mean, a ghost wouldn't say "That's where I died" or anything like that. Phantom hitchhikers usually don't know they're dead in the first place. They usually tell you where they need to go and when you arrive to the place, they're usually gone from the vehicle by then, or at least that's what I've experienced. Take a trip down State Route 491 in New Mexico from Gallup to Shiprock at night to see what I mean.
