This might be a little too late, but nosunshine, I want to write down some numbers just so that they're officially set down:
Number of goths you're complaining about: 6-11 I guess
Number of goths in this site: about 30?
Number of goths you believe you're defending: all
Number of goths you're actually defending: < 1 (yourself, and the adjective is questionable)

...that's a horrible thing to say.
And it doesn't defend you, it just proves you have some sort of complex where you believe everyone is bad to the point where you can't even tell when something is OBVIOUSLY a joke.

It's not that obvious. I know people who think just like this, and seeing how you can't tell someone's tone of voice on a forum, well you get my point.

I laughed quite thoroughly a this thread, mainly at the witty bits of sarcasm strewn about. I love you guys.
Anyway, in an attempt to be civil towards nosunshine (that is, if he still frequents this site):
First of all, the words under the big "Gothicnet" in the top left hand corner plainly state: "Bone Chilling Literary Culture"
This alone should clear up any questions why correct grammar is appreciated on these boards.
Secondly, you appear to be under an incorrect notion about what it means to be goth. I myself have no business whatsoever to be telling anyone what goth is. The only thing I can suggest is that you drop the angst, immediately and in all parts of your life. I've met many people in my day who built their entire persona on their inclination to be involved with something that wasn't "mainstream." From what I've seen, these people never got any respect from anyone who knew anything. I don't wish to judge you, but some of the things you've said give you this air of someone who is deliberately an "outcast", someone who is a nonconformist for the sake of nonconformity. If you so desire to be accepted into goth subculture (or any subculture of that matter), you must first begin to learn what it means to be a goth, and not just what the media has made goth out to be.
I am really not trying to sound pretentious, instead I'm just making an attempt to clear up any misconceptions you may have. Hope it helps.

So you'd just assume she was being a terrible person?
You had it when people assume a person is emo, you hate it when people assume a person is a loser if they are emo, but it's perfectly ok for you to just assume she was being a terrible person?
You could have asked her.
Or just kept your fingers off of the keyboard.

Terrible person?
I assumed because I've come across a lot of this kind of attitude, so it just wouldn't surprise me to find out it was real. Some people I've come across really are SO into Goth, that they think it gives them the right to justify this sort of behavior.
I'm really glad in this case it wasn't. I was wrong, I can admit that. How is the emo thing the same as what I assumed? This assumption was made on a statement made by that person, not something as vague as a label they belong to.
Maybe it was clear to everyone this was a joke, it wasn't to me. Call me paranoid, but that's what happened and I won't deny it.

By the way, is this person even responding to any of this anymore?
