On CNN right now...

I wasn't a huge fan, and I've only seen a few of his films, but he was still a very decent actor.

it does in fact seem to be legit as it was posted by NBC and ABC as well as many other news sources but they seem to have different places where he was found dead, some say in his apartment others say Mary Kate' apartment and others simply say a lower Manhattan residence so it could be a hoax that legit sources have simply assumed was true and posted their own slightly different story

Vultures swarm for us all, eventually. These days, they have cameras in tow while swooping down, licking imaginary chops.

He had a kid, and was in 10 Things I Hate About You. They'll still release the new Batman movie, cuz they're in the editing stages right now. But I still cannot believe he's actually DEAD!

Our office receptionist (and a cool gal she is!) told me yesterday as the news was breaking online.
Can't say I was a huge fan of the guy but I was legitimately stunned by the news.

Earlier in the day I'd read an online story on quaint, milk-drinkin' popster Amy Winehouse & how she'd been photographed snortin' cocaine 1st thing in the morning. Coupled with the pic attached that showed her in a blonde 'do and looking like she'd been handed around the block more than once, I was more prepped to read that the Reaper had finally nabbed her instead of Heath.

I guess Winehouse, like Keith Richards, is one of those Death couldn't kill with a .45!

So... Westboro Baptist Church apparently want to picket his funeral.
Given it's likely to take place in Australia, where his family live, and I doubt that any of the WBC actually have a decent passport, I don't think they'll manage to.
Hell, if they get there, they'll get their asses handed to them by angry Australians- who are rather less likely to tolerate their bullshit at a funeral than a lot of countries.

I thought he was a great actor. I didn't know about it
until this morning while eating a waffle I turned the news on
and dropped my fork and let out a "Whaaaaattt?" Saddening. :[
I loved him in A knights Tale.

Please, WBC, you nutters, protest his funeral in Australia.

I really want to see you all get your asses handed to you, finally, and I'm pretty sure that the Australians don't have all the hang-ups we do here.

For the record, I'm not being serious. I don't really want to see anyone hurt. And I would like to see Heath Ledger have a quiet, respectful funeral.

Oh, please, Fred Phelps, please find a way to get there with your family and friends. I want to be able to see a news flash concerning the death of all of you idiots, because "God hates the Phelps Family!".

Oh man, Westboro Baps are the best. The Phelps Clan, of whoch the church is 88% comprised, have th eglazed look of Heaven's gate. I eagerly await the breaking news of Flavor-Ade and sneakers and that much fucked-up hate leaving this world.

Oddly, Fred Phelps used to be a fantastic civil rights attorney in Shawnee County, then, by all accounts, he went from a little nutty ro a bowl of fruit.

I hate the BS publicity they try to get for their mad flatlands message. And so, I think it is a damn shame that life does not have an ignore function, Westboro makes for good news though.

I'd heard that, too. Is there any truth in that?

He's dead, eh? Oh well. I liked him in the Brothers Grimm, so that's a good mark to his name in my opinion...

Yet, I never knew him personally and I don't know anything about what he's like as a person, and not as a character in a movie. Tens of thousands of people I don't know die every day, and just because one of them acted, I don't think it's fair to shed any more tears for him than anyone else.

Actually, I'm confused as to why so many people have developed such an emotional connection to such a stranger.

Not that I think it's a good thing he died or anything.
