How about hating abstracts? There's nothing wrong with hating slavery, hating corporatism, hating a police state, hating inequality, hating complacency, et all.
Then again those feelings don't have to be called 'hate', but how contradictory it sounds to first split hairs in order to make broad generalizations.

Even hating those seems off to me. Accept it exists, and think of ways to either change things like slavery or a police state, or think of ways to cope with it.
Hatred just seems like a waste to me.

Not having a zero tolerance for real problems? Sounds like the easy way out.

I have probably stated I hate something or the other, millions of times, here and elsewhere. Hate gets us nowhere. It is a very destructive emotion. (My opinion). I love anything and everything even if it has caused me pain, because, I have been the cause of so much pain over the years.

Jillian: I accept your point of view on this but let me just say; Lets not hate, lets try to understand and set things right.

That's what I'm saying, it's just a question of semantics.
zero tolerance = absolutely not allowing something to exist
hate = absolute desire of the target to cease to exist
You say hate is bad, but what definition are you attributing to Hate? Because certainly the "I hate homework" is different than my "I hate complacency" and a violent person's "I hate that man"
As I said, by setting other words to those feelings and declaring hate absolutely wrong, you're both splitting hairs and making a broad generalization at the same time.

Well, I don't think I ever declared hate absolutely wrong, I said I didn't like it, and I said it's a waste of time.

Instead of saying "I hate homework", I'll just say "I do not want to do my homework for whatever reason".
Instead of saying "I hate complacency", I'll just say "I need to figure out why we/I are/am complacent so that I can do something about it".
Instead of saying "I hate that man", I'll just say "Why do I hate that man? Why should I hate him when maybe all he needs is some love/understanding. What can I do about it?".
But still, I do understand what you mean. And I am sorry if I may sound like a hippie.

I do not hate homework. I should do my homework. It only helps me be a better person for I learn something.

I hate Winter =( Granted, me bitching about it isn't going to make it go away, but I guess I somehow feel in control as I kick snow around screaming "SON OVA BITCH!"

I hate elitism so much that it makes me want to change people's minds about each other.
I don't expect Emos and Goths to frolick through fields of black and blue roses or anything, but I'm -really- sick of this whole 'Gother than thou' mentality!
And if I hear one more complaint about mall goths, I think I'm gonna lose it! Seriously folks, as much as you may not like it Hot Topic is all that some Goths can get!
It isn't a religion, for Goth's sake! Some folks are in it for the fashion, some for the music, some for the mentality, most for a combination! If you really have to hate on someone that hard to make you feel better about yourself, then you're no better than the people supposedly making fun of you!
Ok, I'm done. For now.

I hate double standards, like when some woman say they want a nice guy who is honest, when what they really want is some asshole who drives a mustang. I also hate the fact that I have no preserverance.
