But in all seriousness, it sounds like a cool idea. I'd definitely go to a pirate-themed party.

I remember one year a friend of mine threw a party with an ancient Japan theme. She comes from a line of shinto priests and mikos, so she wore her grandmother's miko garb, and there were all sorts of neat oriental decor. They served traditional foods in traditional Japanese fashion, we had green tea with "geisha servers", live music, and a cultural dance at the end which I refrained from taking part in, as I didn't know the moves.

Thank gawd were back on topic!

So I was telling my mum about the idea. Cos after all it's her house she decides if I can have the party or not.
She said that its like 3 weeks away so not much time to prepare and tell ppl. Cos last year I gave ppl a 3 months notice.

But think about it yea.
The invitations go out on the backs of pirate flag postcards.
(last yea they were on the backs of prints of horror film pictures, like post cards)

The kitchen is the Pirate bar with "grog" and bottles of "rum" etc and a huge pirate flag. I'll take ideas from films for more scene settings.
The front room is where Ill keep the treasure chest with chocolate gold coins and other random things painted gold. for the effect and some plastic gems and stuff.

A skellington in the corner in pirate gear with a chain around his foot as if hes been trapped there. You get picture!

Other random pirate stuff (I need ideas!!)

Outside can be the crew mans deck or something like a walk the plank kinda thing. so Ill have a plank of wood leading out side and have the floors covered in something blue and have some blow up sharks or something along the line to add to the effect.

Oh I love a good fancy dress party. i really put so much effort into my last one.
I had the kitchen as a mad scientist lab with test tubes of colored sambuca and vodka shots. Bottles with Toxic written on them etc. Cable lighting all around the room. colored lights for effects. Bloody tools hanging from hooks on the walls. Jars with colored liquid inside. Jars with eyes balls and other things (sweets of course).
The front room was the Vampire house. The furniture was covered in black cloth and spiders web. Bats hanging from the ceiling, crows and spiders placed here and there. The table had Vampire wine and small plastic wine glasses with strawberry jelly vodka shots in them. I had a skull bowl with sweets in them (every one likes sweets!). UV light to light up the cobwebs that hung from the ceiling. a Skellington hanging in the corner with a ball and chain on his foot and huge spiders hanging from the lights.
The garden was a grave yard. I had made grave headstones with real ivy growing up it and Blair witch voodoo hanging dolls.
I had a big candelabra with black candles that "bleed" red when lit.
My party looked the bees knees I tell ya.
But like I said I was gutted I missed half of it for getting pissed too quick.
But when it comes to setting the stage for a fancy dress party I want it spot on!
The only other thing that pissed me off though was the amount of cash I spent on this party cos the gear was hard to get and out of season but then come Halloween shit loads of new props came out really cheap too! Doh!
