Miss Autumn combines elements of Victorian, classic punk/goth and faerie in her attire.

I dislike the term Preppy Goth as much as I dislike the punk-Goths (doesn't that make you like a deathrocker?). It just doesn't add up in my book. Perky Goths seem to be an attitude, not a fashion, however I'd expect a few brighter colours in their attire (or cyber elements).

The closest thing you might call 'preppy' is the CorpGoth look, which takes business casual and formal attire and arranges it so that, while still 'conservative', it has a darker more 'goth' appearance. Pin-stripes, dark grays and navy blue, even in the heat of summer.

Every time someone says "Perky Goth" I think of Switchblade Symphony.
Tina Root was known to dress like a slightly more risque' little Bo Peep and to wear a lot of pastel colors.

Either way, it's not important, wear what you like! People will appreciate you more for being original.

Fyi: there is actually such a thing as "preppy goth" it is a look that incorporates the old prep school look, doesn't really have anything to do with what is now considered preppy. Although I wouldn't exactly say that it is a common thing, I have seen it done by more than just a handful of people.

If you want to get some ideas for perky goth styles then I would say to look to gravers and candy goths for inspiration as that is a fairly similar look and there may be a bit easier to find pics and/or outfits that fit into those categories

I don't really think of the subcategories. If I had to put myself in a subcategory, it would be downright impossible because I wear clothes from so many different subcategories every day. I like variety. So don't try to subcategorize yourself. Just stick with the general term "goth" to label yourself, if you must give yourself a label.

Well, ATM I'm wearing a black gypsy skirt and a black strappy top (It's extremely warm outside)
I'm more comfortable in this skirt than my other more "Perky goth" skirt.

Perky goth. My friends tell me I end up looking like a preppy vampire when I am all gothed up, especially in the summer when long coats and shirts are out of the question in north carolina heat.

It's mostly halarious! they just say that because i'm "goth" and i actually have like 3 friends, talk to people and jion in group decusions! just 'cause i'm "goth" doesn't make me mute and suicidal! I talk to my friends and follow rules at school and do homework. You can be gothic and have stright A's and have a friendly relationship with some "awesome' teachers REALLY!

I can't help myself.. His name was Oscar Wilde. That was said in "The Portrait of Dorian Grey" It's really a great book. It's been one of my favorites since 6th grade. and no, it's not a kids book. My father of forty-plus said he read it in college. It's adult, in understanding not like don't let your kids prophaine or anything. The internal hidiousness is encased by external youth and beauty Dorian.
Too bad the author died in excile because people thought he was homosexual. Genius lost.

Oscar Wilde was where I came from ^^ He is an amazing writer. He was homosexual actually. But it was outlawed at the time, and therefore he was imprisoned for it. Some say that prison life led to his death.

Naw, sometimes it could be a level maybe a slight level of cyber goth. I'm more of a kandii kid but yeah that's just me.

Me and my girlfriend have been called "hippy-goths", her because she wears those huge skirts with her normal gothy stuff, me because I mix spikes, bondage straps and tie-dye.

The problem with fashion is that it's an inverse art, really. It creates something beautiful that soon becomes ugly. Fashion is art and creativity with a huge huge ADHD problem. In my opinion, it's the most fluid art of them all.

I think that's why it's so misunderstood and hated. Because it's cool to not be vain or "superficial". It's better to be humble and to not think you're absolutely beautiful.

Us PerkyGoths tends to wear brightly coloured stuff.
I usually wear tutu's, rainbow and black striped stockings and strappy tops. I also wear my New Rocks with my tutu's, lol.
But yeah, brightly coloured make up, bouncy music, and don't forget to be HAPPY!

What is "preppy-goth"? :/
I dun think all goths have to be a cookie cutter image of each other [ya know, dark, depressed...blah blah] Each goth is individual and may dress however the f*ck they want whenever they want
I dress in loli styles and people think it suites my personality because I'm caring, pure, and innocent but I always have a dark perspective on things.
