Dennis Kucinich: Impeach Bush

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/joseph..._b_106193.html

Representative Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, just finished reading on the House floor a 35-count impeachment resolution against President George W. Bush. Kucinich's lengthy and detailed indictment of this wayward president is the most thorough and powerful case made to date. He outlined a litany of high crimes and misdemeanors and showed without a shadow of a doubt that George W. Bush deserves to be impeached and removed from office. Kucinich made clear that Bush has violated his oath of office and his Constitutional duty that the laws be "faithfully executed."

Yeah but wouldn't that put Cheney in charge? Is he sure he wants a shotgun wielding maniac for president instead of the idiot for president we have now for any duration of time?

do you suppose this is a bid for attention before announcing his position with another ticket, seeing as he was running for democratic nominee not too long ago?

It's futile.

"The (Democratic) House leadership has said that the idea of impeachment is "off the table." The Judiciary Committee has not acted on articles of impeachment against Vice President Cheney introduced by Kucinich a year ago."

Methadrine beat me to the punch.

Kucinich has tried this before in April of 2007. In fact, he's tried it twice: Once with H.Res 333 and when that virtually "timed out", H.Res 799.

No, it wouldn't mean that at all. Impeaching Bush would mean nothing more than bringing charges against him. And since this is the land of "innocent until proven guilty," during a trial Bush would remain President. On top of that, the trial would undoubtedly take a long time. Presidential election would be done at the earliest, and the new president will have already taken office at the latest. We would most likely be under practically no threat from Cheney.

Most likely Representative Kucinich is reading the resolution for political and historical purposes since it has no legal chance of becoming an article of impeachment:

a) Political: In the upcoming campaign Obama can say "The previous Republican President has had three impeachment resolutions against him. Do we want another Republican?"

b) Historical: to place forever in Bush's history that three impeachment resolutions were logged against him, to document he is the worst in history etc.
Trash his "legacy".

Instead of trashing him, why not speak the truth about the man?

Truth? Okay here's a truth: The man has killed our country and everything in it. Thanks to him my Father is constantly losing his job, the only good thing about him is that when he gives a speech, i have a great time laughing. I mean, good god. I'm 17 and a high school Junior and could make a better speech than our President....

You know what's sad? GWB and Cheney 'runs free' while Clinton got impeached for a bloody blowjob... Nice priorities.

The sadder part is that it's easier to defend illegal wars, domestic spying, and breaking the constitution, then it is to defend a blowjob.

Impeaching Bush is all well and good, but isn't it a case of "too little, too late?" He's on his way out, and the worst damage he can inflict has already been done. Kucinich would probably do better to either run on another ticket or else lend his support to another candidate in this upcoming election. Now's the time to look towards cleaning up Bush's messes and improving the nation's future.

Among the things you said, it places an example. If Nixon were not impeached, or even attempted, would people think as badly of him? Possibly, but for things that most the public wasn't aware of.

By the way, about Republicans, watch an asshole be completely rebutted by Ron Paul.

and a similar comment rebuked by Obama
