This saying pisses me off so much. Not because it's an inherently bad saying (though it quite obviously is), but because the people who preach it are the ones that don't fucking follow it at all.

If people followed this saying more, the world would be in unbelievable amounts of debt.

If I knew I was going to die tomorrow, there wouldn't be a force on the planet that would stop me from draining my bank account and having the time of my brief life.

but the foresight I have knows that's a shitty idea, becuase let's face it, I can't continously try to max out my credit cards every single day based on the fact that it 'could' be my last day.

I think it's a shitty saying becuase it makes people feel stupid or akward for thinking ahead.

Farmers, and other such groups that *have* to pass things from generation to generation, tend to say 'live each day as though it's your last, but farm as if you'll live forever' or some equivalent.
The second part is what makes it work. On its own, the first is just an excuse for being a tit. But the second part means we must look out for those who'll follow us.

It means begging forgiveness for thoughtlessness when tomorrow happens, it means a child you didn't want or a disease, it means retracting statements and trying to do damage control for selfish actions done in the name of "living for today".

Living for today should mean- fearless, not thoughtless.
