Batcave and Specimen

Hi,

I am promoting a gig and club, it's a one-off, and I'm trying to spread the word as far as I can, so no-one misses out.

I don't consider this spam, as it is not only a goth club, but it's the club that started the goth movement in England.

The Batcave was started in 1982 by the Specimen. It was a haunt for many now famous people such as Marc Almond, Nick Cave, Robert Smith, Siouxie Sioux, Foetus, and Danielle Dax as well as being the regular venue for Specimen and Alien Sex Fiend.

On July 11th this year, the Batcave is back for one European date at the Colosseum in Vauxhall, London.

The gig will include Sex Gang Children, Specimen, Avoidance of Doubt and the McCarricks, and the ticket price includes entrance to the Batcave club after the bands.

The Batcave will include theatre and cabaret performance, art installations and decor by Jon Klein, all night goth dancefloor with headline DJ Hamish (original Batcave DJ).

There will also be lots of VERY special guests, to be announced closer to the event.

You can find further details, videos, tickets and travel info on the Club Antichrist website or the Batcave's Myspace.

Hope to see you all there,
Missy AC

I have heard of this for quite some time. Is there any relation between this and the tour with Alien Sex Fiend and Specimen in the USA?

It's after uni is finished, it's in London, and has Specimen.

Happy ending

Here in the US, the promoters are charging $100-200 just for backstage passes and what not because apparently even goth clubs aren't pretentious enough for those willing to shell out for it.

And the above is only in Europe?! <Riley Freeman from The Boondocks> Booooooooooooo! </Riley Freeman from The Boondocks>

LoL. I would so start my own goth/deathrock night with a bunch of local bands spanning from horrorpunk to darkwave. I'd also hire strippers.

I would do this in the same town as The Batcave. You know, for the lulz.

I might actually make it to this due to a snap decision visit to London in July. Holy shit, excitement!

Kontan, if you need a noisecore/D-Beat band, I'm in, just to piss people off.

"Decaying System everybody! *band gets on stage and starts playing* What the shit is this? My brain hurts!"

That only mentions the US tour of Specimen and Alien Sex Fiend, and involves transport and immigration issues. Presumably the Batcave show in the UK wouldn't be affected by that. Otherwise I want my 20 pounds back!

Come to PA and we'll set one up in some crazy abandoned place and we'll make a band and we'll play there as well as invite some other cool bands. But since it's in PA, the only people that would show up would be punks, scene kids and rivitheads. I predict fights.

Cool, yeh I'm really looking forward to it too Kinda wish I had listened to more Sex Gang Children though, I like knowing songs when I see bands. Never got around to getting much of their stuff. I'm sure they'll be great though, and I can't wait for Specimen!

Maybe I'll see you there.

If you don't mind a deathrock sound with slight horrorpunk vox, it'd be sweet.

I have a black and green deathhawk and will be wearing a bleach-splattered Neva t-shirt, so if you see anyone of that description feel free to say hi. I don't know enough people in this city, argh.

I'm still in total denial that I could possibly be seeing Specimen. It's just one of those things I never thought would ever happen. Though I doubt I'll recognise a single member of the band, haha.

I'd kinda like to go, but I was promised to something early and day-long on the Saturday way before this thing was announced. It's a pity, but... I dunno, I just haven't been feeling so into gigs lately, I'm needing more sleep now that I'm actually doing stuff in the day, and money's not as good as it could be. Batcave's a nice looking thing, and I'm sure I'll end up crying with jealousy when I see everyone's pics, but I just can't get excited about it.
I'm missing AntiChrist tomorrow and missing the Neph on Saturday. Just can't afford em.

Kinda odd, really, since usually I'll forgo food in favour of clubs.

Just so you folks on the other side of the pond who will be in attendance know, I hate you all with every fiber of my being yet I say this with all the jest in my heart.

Yes, I have some. Stop looking so surprised.

Seriously? If you had said gigs in place of clubs, you would totally be talking my language.

Ok I'll keep a look out for you. No idea what I'll be wearing but quite possibly a shirt with "FTB" stenciled on the back with the T as a cross with wings.

Opps, I started typing that ages ago and left, missed you other people posting. You don't need sleep

Lolly- Gigs are usually good. I still make an effort, sometimes. But I'm more interested in a social aspect. Music is something to occasionally run and dance to, then return to conversation.
Don't misunderstand, music is *very* important to me. But in a different way to those who go to every gig. I like to listen, but fewer and fewer bands are tempting me out these days. I don't know what it is. Some of the gigs just feel so elitist, and it's getting way too expensive just to see one or two bands.
