I loved Repo!, especially Ogre, but that`s to be expected.

And, yeah Rocky Horror is supposed to be one great, big, send off to sc-fi 50`s movies.
That`s the reason for all the crazy, strange, things.
People love it because it`s so fabulously campy.
Or at least that`s why all the beings I have come in contact with have.

I am, however, LIVID that the writer mentions Jhonen Vasquez TWICE in connection.
I loved the film. I wasn't impressed with the critic's scathing review. The critic apparently doesn't know the difference between steampunk and cyberpunk, first off.

It's also not just for teens or the "hot gawffic" crowd. When I went to the screening, in the Q&A afterwards a college professor who was present even stood up and said she intended on showing it in one of her ethics classes when discussing all the unnecessary cosmetic surgery people go through these days, how it's a statement on our disposable, appearance-obsessed society.

Not to mention the critic took it a little too seriously. Though it does bring up some serious points in its own way, the movie is purposefully funny in some scenes and even blatantly pokes fun at itself in the last musical number.

But the critics usually hate about every movie I like anyway. Kinda funny that even on rotten tomatoes, the critics give it poor ratings while the users give it high ratings. Hey, maybe the movie isn't for everyone, some people may think it's stupid, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the music is good to boot.

I hadn't heard of this flick/musical before, but I must say this all sounds pretty interesting. Ogre alone would be reason enough to check it out but this could be something actually decent. I'm going to see if a torrent is available!

I would say the music and the characters, personally. What do you have against it, Ophie?

The songs are stupid, and sung badly, the actors are D-list at best, and it's a stupid idea and plot.

Nothing about it is good.

Well, that's your opinion, Ophie; I personally love Anthony Head, and think he has a fantastic voice. I'm very much looking forward to getting the Blu-Ray.

If someone is willing to buy the DVD for me, I'm willing to sit through this suckfest to objectively prove to Tam that her opinion is wrong.

I have a feeling it will be two hours of total sense assault, but being that my degree is in shit like this, I'm willing to put my critical art judging skills up against what is undoubtably a pile of garbage.

Or, you could just rent it from Blockbuster, if you're that curious about it. As for this being "your field", I never said it was the greatest thing ever written in musical history. I just said I enjoyed it.

Seriously, sometimes I think you folks take these things a tad too seriously.

Red face

I really liked it. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen but I liked it and I have it on my iPod for all those boring times you wishedyou had a movie. And I repeat: I liked it, wasn't my favorite movie, but likable. This is my opinion and I wish you'd stop critisizing people who like it or don't. Be respectful, gosh.
Btw: I thought some of the songs were addictive. I'm infected. I'm infected by your genetics!!

I think Adult Swim killed the novelty on that one.

I finally got 'round to watching Repo a few days ago and I must say I was a bit dissapointed.

It was a laugh, I like the premise and the acting didn't really bother me. I expected a lot more from the music after reading this thread (and because of Oghrs involvement) though, and I thought the visual style was overdone.
