Movie Soundtracks
The Never Ending Story soundtrack rocks, as does the Hook soundtrack. John Williams did a great job, especially with the flying scene from Hook, epic and awesome.

I like the music by John Carpenter in his films, as well as the score to the movie "Fright Night" and "Terminator" by Brad Fiedel.
Any kind of minimalistic synth wave kind of score really does it for me.

Anything by Gregg Araki has a great band-listing, as well as an excellent musical composition by the composer. David Lynch is another one.
Also Forbidden Zone and RHPS, but musicals are a different story.

Hunt for Red October, Pirates of the Caribbean - Klaus Badelt
Gladiator, The Da Vinci Code - Hans Zimmer
Dragonheart - Randy Edelman
Schindler's List - John Williams
Dinosaur - James Newton Howard
... just to name a few. In some cases, however, I do prefer simply listening to the music as opposed to watching the film.

Monster's Ball soundtrack is surprisingly great. I just recently saw the film for a second time and I never realized how good it is. I also like the soundtracks to The Fountain and Oldboy.

I know it may seem like a mainstream goth sterotype thing...but someone has to mention The Nightmare Before Christmas. Danny Elfman did a great job on that soundtrack. Both Mortal Kombat soundtracks are good, including the stuff that got cut out of the film. One of my friends knows how to play the MK theme "Techno Syndrome" on guitar. Bitchin'

I saw this on youtube and it was the reason I went out and bought the movie, I hadn't seen it before but I thought this scene was so amazing and it was due mostly to the music. Also due to Clint Eastwood's manly staring too.....*le sigh*

The first MK sound track was what introduced me to Type O Negative. I still can't believe their lead singer/bass player is 6' 3"! But, that explains the deep voice.

I like Argento's collaboration with the Goblins for the music in Suspiria.
The high-pitched, chime-like sequence for the 'thrilling' parts was beautifully eerie and did just the job.

I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings soundtracks (particularly the second album--Helm's Deep was a great piece). Chicago also had a catchy line-up, and I liked some of the tracks from Blade Runner.
