Where to put the Ink?

So, I've had a tattoo design picked out for something like 6 years. The only thing that has been holding me back on getting it done for so long is that I don't know where to put the darn thing!

I'd like it to be somewhere that I can look at the design easily, and cover it up easily if need be (Job interviews, Military functions, etc). It should be on the left side, preferably somewhere along the bloodline to the heart. It will be no larger than the size of my palm (so 3 inches tall by 2.5 inches wide) and just black and grey.

I'm not too anxious about the pain aspect of it. And I have no clue when this will ever get done. Maybe if I'm lucky DH + I can scrap together the cash for my b-day in January.

I have no idea where the bloodline to the heart is, so I can't help you on that.

However, I've found that putting tattoos on your shoulderblades are the easiest to conceal, followed by tattoos on your chest.

When you say military functions, are you enlisted or civilian? If you're enlisted, you should probably abstain from getting a tattoo until you've been discharged.

Shoulderblade- no way in heck. I need to have it someplace I can admire it with out needing a mirror and contortionist abilities. =)

I am a military spouse. Thankfully my husband isn't really into the going to all the big formal dinners and dances things so I'm not too worried about this aspect of it but I do feel it should be taken into slight consideration.

I have Edward Gorey bats tattooed on my collar bones. I really like that location because it's really easy to conceal them and easy to show them off as well.

That sounds awesome, actually. It's weird, it seems like everyone but me that I know have got bats tattooed somewhere on their person. I guess I'm weird.

I know a lot of people with bat tattoos as well, seems to be the in thing for girls here. I have butterflies, song lyrics and vine type designs I don't much care for bats myself.

I have also have Poe and Lovecraft quotes, an abstact spiderweb design.. that one goes right across my ribcage, the Auryn (the symbol from the NeverEnding Story), a custom half sleeve in progress, etc.. etc.. lots of other stuff.. 15 tattoos total if you count the half sleeve as one piece..

One of my friends got a tattoo on her ass cheek and she said it felt like he was tattooing in the hole or doing something else there...

Since I'm done with having kids I was thinking about having it done on my left breast. If I were to ever actually get the breast reduction I want, would the surgeon be able to do the procedure without fucking up the design?

When they give you a breast reduction, I think they lift it as well. When they do a breast lift what they do is they cut around your nipple and down in a keyhole shape and then close it up. It's got nothing to do with the top of your titty.

I got my tattoo on my inner upper arm... it hurt like hell but it's a really cute spot thats easy to hide...if you want to hide it.

BUT it hurts like HELL!

If it's on the top of your boob there shouldn't be a problem. The scarring would be around your areola and a line going down your boob, but they say it fades most of the time. If it's not within that key shaped area they remove then it won't be a problem, but if you want it, say, circling the side of your boob there could be a placement change. D'you know what I mean?

Siouxsie- At one time I'd do a belly tat but I don't go bare midriffed very often and I'd like other people to see the work too. Someday my tummy will be pretty again and I may consider that location for a different design than what I'm considering ATM.

PJ- I get your drift. Totally scary how much the breasts in that pic look like mine!

Well, thanks PJ =) Sadly, they've caused much grief over the years for me. Got teased mercilessly in Jr High because I 'blossomed' much sooner than the rest of my class, Never got to participate in Track as much as I wanted to because couldn't find good enough support in the bra dept, I get lower back pain often because the weight of them causes me to slouch and there's dents in my shoulders from the straps. Seriously. Plus, the rest of my body is fairly petite so finding clothes that fit well is a bitch.

One plus- When I actually give a shit and work out just a little I get people telling me that with a body like that I should be in porn

I probably could still do it too, was blessed to get no stretch marks while gestating, birthing and nursing the babybat!
