I just found it easier alright? And I spend a lot of time on msn also and I just wanted to type faster so I abrieviated.

The point is... this isn't MSN. We like to read words and complete sentances. Do give it a try or you'll start finding yourself a victim of many clicks on the "ignore" button.
Is that clear enough for you?

The only things I usually abbreviate on message boards are "*LOL*" and "*LMAO*", and even that is rare.
Hell, I rarely abbreviate over messengers, except for the above and BRB, and then half the time I don't even use BRB unless I'm actually in a hurry. I'm generally not a fan of abbreviations.

I did abbreviate alot and have settled down a bit. Like brb, lol, and talk like talking to you face-to-face by useing such words as anyways and such. Lots of others but on here im trying hard as hell not to. That way i none get angry at me. I sure dont want to be on the business end of that ignore button. Try to bare with me as im trying to still get used to the change.

Abbreviation is ok when used onece in a while, via the internet to exchange communication or to post an email/message/argument.
But surely there is a fine line, when abbreviation merges as part of one's language or way of communicating is damn childish.

I agree. I just use abbreviation to type up those messages faster and get them done b4 the other person could talk. Its fun getting in 2-3 sentances before others could get one. But i do see your point on how it can be a bit childish. I may be able to understand some abbreviations but i think its much easier for the reader to just type out the flippin words.

Abbreviations are only cool when they're acronyms....Acronyms like F.U.C.K
F.U.C.K = Fornicate Under the Command of the King

I think Night Fag's gone...I hope he is.
Maybe he realised that he wasn't goth when he went to the urinals...
You could hear the halls of his school echoing:
'Oh MY GOD!!! Piss is Yellow!!!! That's not goth!!!'

Wrong!
The King ALLOWED, not Commanded fornication. The letter "C" stands for CONSENT.
Learn, children, cause uncle Maelstrom ain't gonna last forever

self-experience post, huh? But wait, is that with vampiric bats, or the vegetarian ones?
'cause I'm very eco-conscious and only will eat the vegetarian ones....err....that makes sense somehow.....it does too....

Maybe you were able to get in 2-3 sentences before others could get in one because the others were busy trying to decipher your writing.
Not trying to insult you personally - just making the observation that "abbreviated" writing is difficult to read.
Anyone keen on beating others in typing the next line should just learn to type faster. With practice, you can speed up your typing quite a bit, which is indeed helpful in chat situations. I type 65 words per minute; it's not that hard.

Or, you can take another route and learn Dvorak. I don't even feel the need to look at the keyboard, and I was a terrible typist before I switched over.
