I think cuttings pretty fucking stupid. There isn't any positives I can think of it other than being able to be like "Hai guys, I'm sad, pity me, I cut myself because god doesn't like me"

Dude, please.

Take it from someone who not too long ago self-harmed, it's not about the attention. I didn't cut, I burned myself with lighters, and went to considerable lengths to make sure NO ONE knew. The only person who knew while I was still doing it was my girlfriend, cause it's pretty damn hard to hide blisters, scabs, and scars from someone who sees you naked.

Yes, some people do cut for attention, but often that bid for attention isn't "look at me" so much as "please god someone help me". I have yet to meet anyone who self harmed just so people would fuss over them.

For me, the physical pain was much easier to deal with than the hollowness of the depression. I'm not proud of it, and as a matter of fact it's been a year and a bit and I'm still ashamed as fuck half the time. So please, show some compassion and use your head.

why not focus all that energy on somethign more positive... I've felt like shit before belive me i have I have done some pretty fucked up shit in my life and felt bad for it after ...
but i've never wanted to harm my body in any way... well i did do drugs but thats not the point.

Kids who cut themselves do so because they grew up being told cigarretes* would kill them. They don't want to die--AND THEY'RE ALREADY IN PAIN. Emotional pain is just as real, and MORE debilitating. It's all about experiencing that rush of endorphins, while wishing not to die, but for a distraction from how bitter you feel yourself becoming in your sorrow. SOME people are less fortunate than others--the perpetuation of the stereotype is wrong, morally. Some kids need help, not ridicule, and those are the same ones who are hiding it! *AND to explain the cigarrete thing, those who graduate to smoking get the buzz from the cowboy killers, and it feels wonderfully mind-clearing...or numbing. That, and they burn instead of cut, it's more intense. And burns don't heal NEARLY as easily, either. A person who feels that much pain inside already, to not care about the pain their body feels, but actually go and seek it out, is in a world of their own, so to speak, too blinded by sadness. I totally agree with you. but theres "no" logic reason to hurt your self even more if your already in pain.

Seriously, pain has become pleasure for some reason. Maybe try something less deadly and easier to hide, such as: piercing the skin with sanitized needles, sinking finger nails into other fingers or whipping your self until getting a nice rosey red.

Well, pain has always been close to the threshold of pleasure, hasn't it? You've never felt so much pleasure, you couldn't stand it? Or felt pain that you somewhat enjoyed? The lines have always been blurred for me, I think I've got a different definition for 'Pain' than most people....
It's hard to get me to say, "Ow." Maybe it just ACTUALLY doesn't feel the same to me as to other people, and I'm wrong.... or maybe it does, and people really don't know what pain is. In any case.....
