Sailormoon was never that bad. I have the whole series (yes, in uncut Japanese), and so long as your kids aren't super sheltered rednecks...I'm not seeing a problem.

Out of curiosity Lenore, you speak nihongo?

I took it in high school but dropped out because I suck at learning the written language; but yeah I remember that part. Americans are Amerika-jin.

Yeah, it does...and made it ridiculously confusing when they were holding hands or looking at each other in a romantic way.
I kept thinking "What kind of cousins ARE they???"

I don't know about the anime, but I remember that it wasn't edited out of the manga.

Don't watch the dub, it is balls. Seriously, don't even go near it, the sub is way better.

Yeah. I'm tired of the dub editing stuff out. Plus, the voice acting sucks.

Ah yes, I have a hard time with the written language as well, can't read kanji for squat. I wish it had been available at my high school, I basically went through training-by-fire when I got there haha.

Man, the writing was the easiest part, I did awesome with that. It was in the third semester when we got into more complicated grammar that I had to bow out.

I didn't have any trouble with the hiragana and katakana, but memorizing all that kanji...I really need to study more and learn more words. Grammar wasn't too bad for me, but that's probably because I had so many native speakers to listen to. I think that helped a lot.

Ooh, torrent or DVD? If torrent, I hope the first arc and R doesn't have the problem they did on the DVDs with bleeding colors and fucked up sound.

Little sis was about 12 or so when we started watching sailor moon together... on some cable channel.... she was the one who told me about the lesbian sailor scouts.. that is when I knew that I would love that show.. forever.
They fight for love and justice.

Man, I remember watching Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z back in the early days of Toonami. It was good stuff to veg out after school with.

Yeah, and it was a pretty rough chop job at that. Everything about the CCS dub was pretty terrible, though. You're better off either just watching subs/raws or sticking to the manga.
Of course, the same could be said of any CLAMP title.

I'm watching Tokyo Mew Mew right now and it rips off Sailor Moon so bad that it's almost offensive.

Most Magical Girl Animes are ripped off from Sailor Moon.
Out of curiosity, have you seen K-On! or So Ra No Wo To?
These are animes with mainly female protagonists as well (without the magical girl element).

Nah, my girlfriend liked K-On! but I haven't watched it. It's still running and I tend to wait until series end to watch them, I'm impatient about watching the next episode.

Ahhh....
K-On! has two seasons. I think the second season will be the last and it'll probably finish before fall starts.

HELL FUCKING YES.
There's nothing like two chink-made holograms gettin' it on dirty.
But seriously, fuck anime. More importantly, fuck the American children who live their lives according to it and then try and take up Japanease as a second language and think they're ethnically those who, forty years ago, tried to blow us all away in their military efforts. They do that just BECAUSE they love a certain anime so much. What a plague.

Overzealous fanboys of any stripe are annoying.
What bothers me most about this post is the implication that American children should not demonstrate excessive affection for Japanese culture because Japan was our enemy in World War II. Dude, that was actually like, closer to 70 years ago now. Let it the fuck go.

Sinjob: Every country has tried to blow up every other country at this point. That's not really a valid argument. -_-;;;
May I remind you that we actually succeeded in blowing Japan all to hell when it was all said and done? Or that we've now succeeded in trying to blow ourselves up?
We aren't really that much better.

I don't remember Canada trying to blow too many countries up.
Are you saying we're really great at blow jobs?
(Well, someone had to say it. Seems appropriate that it's me doing so.)
